Can someone please confirm that a re-entry permit can be purchased and used for a 90 day Non-O visit Thai family visa. I may need to leave and re-enter within the 90 days. I do understand that the visa will still expire 90 days after first entry.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can obtain a re-entry permit while on a 90-day Non-O visa in Thailand. This permit allows you to leave and re-enter the country without invalidating your visa, which would otherwise expire upon departure.

Put it this way, if you don't get one, it will expire when you leave.
