Another serious Visa question in another Thai Visa Forum (we know which one) was shut down with no answer and a rude comment that showed he had not read the question. (Or is drunk) I suppose I can't post a screenshot to get an answer for them?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen born in Thailand is seeking options to extend their stay in Thailand on a tourist visa, which expires soon. Suggestions include a possible border run to Laos to apply for a new tourist visa or extending their current visa by visiting immigration offices. The discussion highlights the challenges faced due to changing visa requirements and border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I just returned from Laos an hour ago and got my new tourist visa, no questions asked.
Take the Nakon Chai Air VIP bus from bkk for 700 baht and get dropped off at the border. Laos VISA 1.500 baht, taxi to Thai embassy 300 baht. One night in hotel about 600 baht. Thai VISA 1.000 baht and another 300 baht to the border and bus station in Nong Khai.
Remember to book appointment online before you go
You might want to fly there instead but with the virus about I prefer an overnight half empty VIP bus with good leg room and movies but your call (y)

So lemme get this a US citizen (born in thialand) here on a tourist visa who doesn't want to go home and is on a visa that expires on April 3.
Well IF she hasn't foolishly burned thru her TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land she gets in a calendar year she could border bounce to get a new 30 day stamp, and extend that by 30 days at the immigration office. OR she could make an appointment and GO to Vientiane and BUY a real single entry tourist visa.
At this time the ONLY country that US passports can't bounce out and back by land will be cambodia (seeing as they close their border to US passport holders on the 17th)
One more thing the fact that a US person is born here cuts NO ice, unless she has a thai mother when even on her US passport she can get a year extension by showing the birth certificate and her mom's thai i/d.

I have made this trip recently (border bounce - no visa). Simple fly to udon thani taxi 200 baht to the border.

"OR she could make an appointment and GO to Vientiane and BUY a real single entry tourist visa."
Could you tell me about this? She is considering flying from Don Muang to Vientiane and then back. How long should she plan to stay in Lao to complete this? Do you recommend a particular "agent" there?
Thanks a ton in advance.
Her current "history" so far in Thailand. (this time)
Arrived here from the USA on Oct. 1 with a 60 day tourist visa that was then extended for one month.
On Jan. 29th flew to Singapore and stayed with relatives for one month. Arrived back in Thailand on Feb. 3 and received a 30 day "on arrival tourist visa".
Then went to immigration in country and got one more month. Her present tourist visa expires April 03.
No "over-land" trips yet.

Indeed. We have found that being born here (both parents USA citizens) means NOTHING to the local authorities.

Yes. I have just chatted with him. He is leaving "that group" after many years because he is fed up with "that snarky individual" I have passed on the suggestions from here and he is exploring some options, but as she is 23 born in Thailand but US citizen and doesn't want to study digital Nomad, I suggested Iglu (I know) or exploring other options for now until she can travel to a consulate.

I want more details on the "Treaty of Amity" Nobody I have talked to seems to know anything about that.
I can file for tax id/corp in Vegas or elsewhere - and then what?

I don't think Iglu is an option any more, I believe they have stopped taking on new nomads. There was a government clampdown on that that affected them and other similar arrangements.
There aren't any restrictions on US citizens returning home. That was mostly for Chinese nationals because it was dangerous for them to return home with the rampant outbreak.
It's not dangerous to return to the states from a virus perspective.

Honestly right now is going to be a difficult time to get a visa from a Thai consulate. It changes daily, some embassies are asking for medical certificates showing negative tests for the virus (penang), others the country's are just closed. Vietnam, Singapore, and from what I just heard Cambodia have closed their borders for all visa exempt entries and tourists.
Her best option is do a land border run up to laos.

Someone posted about a refusal coming back from Poipet only today, not a good choice. I think Nong Khai and try to get a visa in Vientiane, as far as I know they are still operating normally.

But I think she is looking for a visa not an exempt entry.
