My Airbnb guest arrived on 9th September expecting to get a visa on arrival. They asked her to go through Fast track and pay an extra $500 to get her 30 days but she decided that was a scam. Hence she only got 15 days. I realise that is all irrelevant now. Thanks for your input which is a great help as I have guests asking me these questions almost every day now that is the “High season”.
I live near Mae Sai, the most northern point in Thailand and the Burma border is closed to foreigners. Only Burmese can cross from Shan state into Thailand and Thais can cross into Tachilek for one day.
I had an Indian guest staying last month. She refused to pay to go through the Fast Track lane at Suwarnaphum (the correct spelling) so she only got 15 days. She had to enter Laos and return in Chieng Khong to get another 15 days. The she left and went to Vienam.
Yes. I filed a ™ 30 for an Airbnb guest the other day so that she could get a 30 day extension. One immigration officer said she could have it with the ™ 30 that we had just obtained and a copy of my house book and ID card but another imm off said no. So we went to another immigration office and got what she wanted.
Mae Sai had never heard of it and said it didn’t exist, so I tried in Chiang Rai. They said the same, so I went to Vientiane and have now extended it (at Mae Sai) for one year for retirement.
My local immigration office say that there is no such thing as a Non O visa in Thailand (90 day permission to stay). They just looked bewildered and said Mai Mee.
Further to the rest, I applied for a new British passport on 9 October at VFS in Chiang Mai. They said it would be 11 weeks but phoned me on the 20th (11 days later) to say that I could come and collect my new passport. It is blue but unfortunately I am told that they are produced in France!
