So is the map another one of those requirements that varies by immigration office? Or maybe it applies only to Non O retirement visas? I've extended an O-A a couple times in Pattaya with no mention of a map requirement. I'll be extending for the first time this year in the Lampang office. I'll be checking with them beforehand.
Sorry, guess I wasn't clear. Yes, the advice was to come in 6 mos after my last extension to get 6 month stmt. Then come back in before my next extension to get the stmt for the second half of the year.
For Bangkok Bank users: I was given a tip by my bank at my last extension. I've not done this yet so cannot confirm. But they told me that I can walk in and get a 6 month statement on the spot and thus don't need to wait days for it. Then at extension time I do the same thing and get the letter at the same time. I don't recall if the 6 month statement was free or not. I'm thinking they said it was but I'm not sure.
I tried entering Thai for the address info. The tool definitely did not like that. It would not even allow submitting. It simply did not like Thai characters vs. English. I really thought that might be the answer.
Sorry, yes, I should always preface with that info. I have done several in-person check-ins since the TM30 was done a year ago. I know the check-in receipt has the address on it in the corner, in Thai. I tried one translation of the address and it was rejected. The second pending attempt is with a different translation of the street name.
After getting a house built in a location with a cheaper cost of living and some other changes I will certainly have no need for 65k/mo. Our expenses will be way down from our present situation. I won't be happy still about parking 800k here but at least over time I can keep more of my money in the US since I can transfer much smaller amounts to Thailand for expenses. So under those circumstances it seems that will be the better choice. Especially if the monthly method gets bumped to the rumored 100k/mo. Parking the 1 mil or 1.2 mil baht will still suck but again over time I will be keeping more in the US.
Based on my experience in the US you will not have to cash out when first acquiring the visa from within your country. That is what you are doing, right? I only showed proof that I had the funds in some form when applying. But after acquiring the visa and getting here then you will have to either get the 800k baht into a Thai account for your first extension or immediately start monthly transfers of 65k baht per month. So I think you have until late in your first year to get the 800k baht on deposit. 2 months before you extend? But using the 65k baht per month international deposit you will have to begin right away as they will want a year's worth of monthly deposits proven when you extend.
