Cathy Seran no you don’t.

Only 2 months before for extensions based on family.

Once extension stamped in your passport you are free to use the money as long as you top up again 2 months before next extension.

This is just BBL creating their own rules.

Happened to me as well. Will move my business fully to K Bank where I already have accounts.

Pro tip that works at least in Bangkok.

I travel a lot for work and don’t bother with the TM30 at all as I never stay over 90 days meaning no need to deal with immigration that often.

Once a year I need to deal with immigration to do my non-O based extension and few days before my scheduled appointment I just file new TM30 online for that day. Print out, include to my application and never had a problem.

So if you need to deal with immigration and TM30 is not up to date. Just file one online for any day and avoid the penalty.

which immigration you use?

If you reside in BKK then Chaengwattana office the “under consideration” period is only 21 days. So you can do the annual extension in one 28 days visit.

Two weeks ago at Swampy they fill the application for you on computer and take your photo and print it out for that 200 THB service fee.

I had all prepared including passport copies but they just took the application and my passport. Saved me couple of minutes I guess.

Another question came to mind.

If I would apply under the 40k pm income rule (have work permit and the income).

What would be the documents required?

Thanks Todd very helpful.

Before the online appointments went always around 9 right after the ppl waiting since dawn. Was out usually after lunch. So likely the same now.

Let’s see. I have until 26-Sep so maybe push it forward and then travel with the under consideration stamp and new re-entry. Or try my luck next week. Coming from Prawet it’s the day gone anyways with traveling there and back.

read again.

I didn’t miss anything.

I had 3 weeks left on my extension and multiple RE Permit. And pending application for new annual extension of stay with date to report to immigration in about 4 weeks time.

Left the country actually twice for a couple of days business trip without issues. Got back before the expiry of the current extension and RE Permit and reported to immigration a week later to get my new extension.

The trick is to apply your new extension when you still have 3 to 4 weeks left on the old one. And always get the one year multi RE Permit as well. So you can travel without issues and without buying new RE Permit when “under consideration”.

yes and no. I had like 3 weeks left on my extension (and multiple RE permit) when I applied new extension and received the under consideration stamp (for 30 days or so).

They would not sell me new RE Permit and just said I can come and go as usual until my RE Permit (and the old extension) is still valid.

Few years back I had to get new RE Permit as the extension (and my multi RE Permit to go with it) was already expired. So naturally this was until the date mentioned in the under consideration stamp as the RE is always tied to your current and valid permit to stay stamp.

I’ve done it before.

If your current extension is still valid see that you have re-entry permit or get one and you can exit as long as you are back before your re-entry (and extension) expires and/or before the date you need to report at immigration.

I think once I left after my old extension expired and just get re-entry which was valid until the date of the “under consideration” stamp. But in this case better to check with immigration as they tell you what to do when applying re-entry.

Another angle.

If you travel overseas, many counties require minimum 6 months validity on your passport so in this case you should renew when about 7 months left.

If you stay put in Thailand then doesn’t matter.
