I believe the Indonesia Stay Permit is the KITAS, it is like a residency stamp for non-Indonesians living in Indonesia. I know that there is a small list of nationalities that can only apply in Indonesia, if they are residing there (most countries can apply on a tourist visa though). What is your nationality?

clearly this guy doesn’t know anything. It would most likely not work. Culturally, “saving face” is important. Going up to an official and directly telling them it is their fault is asking for problems. If you are even able to get in contact with them, you need to do it in a much more humble manner. Apologize, highlight how the tech must have made an error, as the email with the invite never came through, etc.

through the same embassy as your friend? When did your friend apply? Most embassies have been requiring 6+ months of training and if less giving out tourist visas.
