What day did you apply?

@Ernst ********
also depends on airline. I have been in situations where checkin counter doesn’t open until 2-2.5 hours before flight.

Also, the 5th was a holiday, so only been 7 days. LA states 15, and if they ask for additional documents, they add 5 more days once those documents are submitted

- I don’t think that will work. Furthermore, the embassy is technically Thai sovereign land, so technically once in the building, it is no longer EU.

- only way you will get the DTV is by showing that you plan to stay longer.

I think this was meant to include the other John who responded to you. I think what he is saying though, if you keep telling the embassy that you will be there for less than six months, they will keep giving you a tourist visa instead of DTV.

@Mike ******
has the tourist visa expired? You won’t be able to apply again until it has. What embassy gave you a tourist visa instead? Both Canada?

@Mike ******
why were you rejected twice (or was it a cancellation)?

It doesn’t hurt to ask for an earlier interview. However, I suspect there has to be a reason why your interview is in two weeks (fully booked up with interviews until then, etc.). The Vientiane embassy’s webpage says one should expect it to take 10-15 business days
