Bryn Graham. It depends on the "gardening". If you're gardening simply for your own enjoyment or your direct benefit, it's not a problem. Once you start selling what you're growing it's out of bounds.

Brad Dubbs..Some immigration offices allow 45 days before the due date. Even if yours doesn't, they might make an allowance if you explain the situation. You have nothing to lose by asking
A.c. Patterson. In good times, you could leave/re-enter every week if you wanted to, and each time getting stamped in for one year right up to the expiry date of the original visa. However, with the mandatory insurance you can be be stamped in only up to the expiry date of the insurance. If one of the OA insurance companies can provide you with a 24-month policy which runs concurrently with your visa dates, you wouldn't have to worry about this.
