REGARDLESS of anyone's personal experience, the RULE is simple for tourists.

Proof of exit from Thailand within the time allotted is what is required.

Whether the airline ask for it or Thai immigration asks for it is irrelevant.

So people roll the dice.

It is no different than being required to have a license to drive,

It only matters if a cop asks for it.

YMMV

A casual group meeting gathering no problem.

Any "services", instruction, performance, class etc.

Could be construed as work and require proper visa.

You may not have a problem but a single complaint could lead to deportation.

Almost all illegal workers are caught by complaints.

Very rarely is it a random check.

the 90 day report and Tm30 address registration is a way they track our whereabouts while in Thailand.

All foreign nationals must be registered Tm30 regardless of length of stay.

90 day report is for longer stay foreigners.

I just stated the rule.

Not the exceptions as you cannot count on that being the case.

If you advise on exceptions that can lead people into trouble.

Nothing worse than somebody arguing but the "internet said".

You may qualify for a temporary "M" visa for the movie production.

Check with your local embassy about availability.

Can also be done in country with the necessary documentation.

You would have to contact bangkok or the local immigration to find out exactly what is required.

The cost at immigration is 1900b for an extension.

says it is completely embassy specific what qualifies.

And it's like the wild west because there is no official guidance.

Each embassy has their own take on it.

Here is a reasonably accurate way to compare your current home vs cities or areas.

I can say that we live very comfortably on about 70k per month in Phuket.

But this is after all major purchases.

Housing purchase or deposits

Motorbikes

Car

Furniture and electronics

If done correctly correctly the METV can get almost 9 mths.

60 on entry extend 30 in country.

Exit and reenter, same thing over again.

It seems by your post/comments you are concerned about the amount of tourists entries you have in your PP.

Maybe look at options like a multientry non-o based on marriage.

Gets a year bouncing in and out every 90 days, with the ability to do a thai family 60 day extension.

Gets you 5 months without a bounce and no problems with immigration.

There are many options if you meet the finances to keep entering without raising flags.
