Generally 6 months for any visa, but if i had less than 5 years i would get new passport before getting the DTV. I had 2 years left and got a new one to avoid the hassle of moving visa to new passport

Scrap unlikely, revise quite likely. But nobody has a crystal ball

Personally not a problem for me. I used DTV to bridge until retirement visa.

Definitely not a real thing. Interview would only happen at the embassy you applied. Obviously not in Thailand.
