Key is whether you want the insurance just for entry or for protection if you have an accident, cheap $20 policies are unlikely to cover the latter . And if they do trying to claim will be like pulling teeth

I went last month to muang thong Thani, they will give you a 30 day extension , you need passport copy and passport photo (both can be done there for around 100 baht , there is a form you need to fill and they will give it to you once they have seen your passport , whole process took 30 mins
there is a form you need to fill out which they will give you when you get there , some people on these groups spend more time posting unhelpful posts when to type the answer would take the same time … must be having a bad day
If you are in Bangkok go to muang ThongThani immigration office , takes about 20 mins , wasn’t many people there when I went, you need passport photo, which you can have done there . Passport and that’s pretty much it
