I have some cognitive impairment due to an illness. I have been on an elite visa due to expire and wish to convert to a non o based on marriage ( married in the uk in 2012). I want to do this in Penang in Malaysia. Has anyone had experience of doing this there and exactly what documents are required. The website is not clear to me.

Thank you in advance

Today we went to Saraburi Immigration Office to apply for my 1 year extension of stay on a Non-Immigrant O " Retirement" Visa as being over 50 years old in the bottom.

Their handouts about the requirements I asked about before did not quite add up to the ones we got when we came there.

Believe me we were prepared, my income letter from Swedish Embassy was worthless proving more income/pension than 65 000 baht per month , officer told me to instead open a bank account and start transfer 65k every month to get my extension.

Officer asked us to come back on 14th November and to get an update on my account and bank book and also to bring a certificate from the bank the day before.

The officer also asked about copies of my girlfriends rental agreement, we was prepared for that, but they also put like a postal stamp on it and told us to get copies of it, which our Immigration office do not offer so need go to fix nearby.

We brought everything from the landlord that was requested on the handouts in the first place, with copies.

Well it's only to do what the officer say so we head down to Kasikorn Bank to open an account.

Was no problem, they needed my passport, a letter from Immigration that I need a bank account (not an ordinary residence certificate document) for my extension and that I have a Thai phone number (sim card) connected to my passport, which we did before go to the bank, plus documents from girlfriends landlord that they owe the building we rent our apartment in.

OBS, this is only Saraburi offices rules of today.

Sorry for a long one.

I’m applying for my DTV next week.

I live and work in Spain but will be applying from the London uk embassy.

My spanish bank can’t translate my statement to English.

Also when filling it in shall I put my Spanish address or my UK home address?

Any advice or help please? 🙏

Sharing my experience getting a Non-O (marriage-based) visa in Vientiane, Laos

Applied: 24 Sept

Paid at the embassy: 25 Sept (went early and the queue wasn’t long at all)

Requested for more documents: 25 Sept (had to certify a true copy of my marriage certificate with the date on it)

Visa approved: 26 Sept ✅

Overall, the process was really smooth and quick!

Hope this helps anyone planning to apply in Vientiane 🙌

Be kind in the comment. If you cannot then just keep scrolling 😉

I submitted all the required documents as stated on the E-visa website.

Hi, I have a question. I own a one-person company in Poland. What documents might the embassy require from me to obtain a DTV visa? The obvious one is the company registration document, but what other documents might be required? I will be applying for a visa in Poland in Warsaw.

Hey everyone,

Sorry this is a longer post — I’d really appreciate any insight or advice ❤️

I recently applied for the Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) from Germany (my passport country), and unfortunately, my application was just rejected. I’m still trying to understand what exactly went wrong.

Here’s what I submitted:

* Proof of funds (over 500,000 THB)

* Invoices from freelance clients over the past 12 months

* My personal Spanish tax return (I was living in Spain until recently)

* Proof of current location in Germany (short-term rental contract)

* A company tax return from a Spanish business I closed in March 2025

I’m currently not registered anywhere, as I’ve been full-time nomadic since March — and was just temporarily in Germany when I applied.

A few days after submitting, they asked me to:

* Provide proof of registration in Germany (which I don’t have - I explained it to them and it seemed ok - so I think)

* Legalize all documents related to any foreign company through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thai embassy in the issuing country (in my case, Spain)

Since my company was already closed and I wasn’t in Spain anymore, I explained that and asked them to disregard the company tax documents and instead focus only on my personal Spanish tax return.

Still, my visa was rejected — no reason given.

What’s confusing is that a friend of mine (Spanish citizen) applied from Vietnam, had no company, and got approved in just two days — no extra documents requested.

So I’m left wondering:

* Has anyone here successfully applied from a country that’s not their own passport country (like Vietnam)?

* Do they always require legalised foreign tax documents? (If so, what exactly? Just the tax return? Company registration too?)

* Would submitting only my personal tax return be enough?

* I recently opened a U.S. LLC to handle invoicing — will this create the same legalization problem if I use it in a new application?

* Do they expect you to be officially registered somewhere? Or is that flexible for nomads?

I really put a lot of time and effort into this application — so I’m feeling discouraged. I had hoped to spend 6–7 months a year in Thailand, and this rejection feels like a setback I didn’t expect.

If anyone here has been through something similar or knows how to navigate this better, I’d be so grateful for your advice. 🙏

Thanks so much in advance.

I applied through the London embassy, but they did not accept my Wise account statement. They require a bank statement from a local branch with an official stamp, along with either my tax return or a letter from my accountant. They didn’t specify what my accountant needs to include in the letter.

Does anyone know how much time I have to gather and upload these documents to their website? Also if my documents don’t meet their expectations, will my visa be rejected immediately or will they ask me to submit additional documents?

Thanks!

Hi, can someone share what are the documents and checks one needs to go through once the DTV has been approved and one has entered Thailand? Reports, renewals, etc. In addition, please share your experience regarding continued checking of initial visa requirements: bank funds, proof of freelancer status/ company ownership, etc. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
