that's why I am making the trip back to Canada, as a commonwealth country we can renew online with about a week turnaround versus all the paperwork and expectant wait here

Say Canada. That's where your from and have a passport for. Easier. Don't overthink. Unless you have notified CRA you are surrendering your Canadian tax status you are simply a resident of Canada even if living and working overseas. You have a Canadian bank account, credit card? Best keep your tax status as is.

Thanks very much. Odd one for me as my CRA shows no income because I retired early and just live off my savings and dividends. Hopefully an investment portfolio statement will suffice as it did for my OA.

thanks, that's an odd email address. I have a letter I used for my original OA I got in Canada and I will update it when I go. What exactly did you provide them to get an affidavit? I wonder if a letter alone from my bank in Canada is sufficient as proof of income?

Heres what you need for an O. See point 5.if you get an income verification from an embassy you don't need transfer $800,000 baht and you would then only require insurance for your initial sixty day visa if you went that route. Far cheaper. But not all embassies still provide this service.
