Question about the 6 month tourist visa. When does the "6 months" begin? When you enter the country or when the visa is issued? Just wondering how far in advance I should apply. Also, I understand you need an outbound ticket for exiting the country? Does that outbound ticket have to be for the first 60 days? 90 days? or 6 months? Thanks for any clarification.

Looking at coming back to thailand again soon. Currently in Indonesia, have seen a fewpost's now so want to hear peoples experiences..

Keep seeing and hearing about people being told at airline boarder that they've stayed in Thailand 'too long' and this would be their last time being given 60 days visa exemption.

Whats your experiences? Did the IO ask to see your outbound flight or proof of hotel booking etc?

Fyi I was in Thailand last year 3 times 2 airline entry and 1 boarder crossing

I'm going to Thailand in July. The intention is to stay 1or 2months and then go on to Vietnam, Cambodia etc.

I only have a 1 way plane ticket into the country as we want flexibility to decide how long we want to stay and where we go next.

We prefer to travel overland rather than flying everywhere

I understand I need to have an outbound ticket as well in order to get a tourist visa and be allowed to enter the country.

Is that right?

If so

How do I overcome the need to show immigration an outbound plane ticket?

For example could I get a train ticket to another country and show that?

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Hi. Got a couple visa questions. Wife & I are coming from US on 60 day TR visas. We're hoping to extend to 90 days when we're there.

1. Is the 30 day extension usually granted? We'll be in Chiang Mai when we'll need to extend. I've been to CM immigration before and they've been pretty helpful.

2. Are we required to have outbound tickets when we arrive in Thailand, or when we apply for the extension?

Thanks!

hello! i’m having some last-minute issues getting a visa in order to enter thailand.

i am planning to travel to thailand for 80 days but i see that a tourist visa only lasts for 60. ive been told that once i’m in the country i can extend this visa for 30 more days, but don’t i need proof of a returning flight in order to get the visa in the first place?

if i book a flight/ train out to a neighboring country 60 days out and then cancel that flight and extend my visa, will this work?

Going to spend 4 months in Thailand. We are Canadians and we will buy the 2-month SETV from outside Thailand before hand. Do I really need to show an outbound ticket when I apply for that visa? Could it be a one-way bus or train ticket purchased on-line to the next country or does it have to be a flight? Thanks for sharing your recent experiences.

Could someone confirm if this is OK or have I missed some details?

- I am graduating from University

- My last grade will be released by the end of September

- My ED-Visa extension is valid until October 12th

According to my multi source research and understanding, to continue my stay in Thailand I should get a letter from school stating the date of the end of my studies and bring it to immigration to cancel my stay permit. Immigration would give me time to stay until the date stated in the letter from school.

Next I would have to leave Thailand before or on the date stated in letter. I get a Thai tourist visa from another country or fly back in to get the visa exemption on arrival.
