Hi. Got a couple visa questions. Wife & I are coming from US on 60 day TR visas. We're hoping to extend to 90 days when we're there.
1. Is the 30 day extension usually granted? We'll be in Chiang Mai when we'll need to extend. I've been to CM immigration before and they've been pretty helpful.
2. Are we required to have outbound tickets when we arrive in Thailand, or when we apply for the extension?
Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When extending a 60-day Tourist Visa (TR) in Chiang Mai, it is generally a straightforward process for US citizens, as extensions are typically granted and the chances of denial are low. As for outbound ticket requirements, you do not need to present an outbound ticket when applying for the extension, but your airline may require a ticket valid within the original 60 days upon arrival.

For US citizens the extension is available and is pretty much guaranteed. Never heard of an instance when is hasn’t been granted. You do not require air tickets for an extension. Your airline may insist on a ticket out within the 60 days though.
