Question about the 6 month tourist visa. When does the "6 months" begin? When you enter the country or when the visa is issued? Just wondering how far in advance I should apply. Also, I understand you need an outbound ticket for exiting the country? Does that outbound ticket have to be for the first 60 days? 90 days? or 6 months? Thanks for any clarification.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) is valid for 6 months starting from the date it is issued by the embassy, not the date of entry into Thailand. Travelers should apply for the visa considering this timeframe. Additionally, an outbound ticket is required, typically for a flight out within 60 days after entry. Some embassy requirements for the METV include proof of multiple entries, which may necessitate showing a flight itinerary in and out of Thailand.

A 6 month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa is valid for 6 months from the day it is issued by the embassy.

In order to qualify for METV, some embassies require proof that you need multiple entries. This means a flight into Thailand, a flight out of Thailand within 60 days of arrival, and another flight back into Thailand.
