Hello I am in Bangkok on a tourist Visa looking to go to Vientiane, Laos to apply for a DTV Visa.

I have some questions

1. Will I need to apply for an E Visa before going through to Vientiane to Thailand or can I just book an appointment with all documents required and apply in person at the Thai embassy in Vientiane?

Is a Laos entry stamp on passport stuffient forthe current location document or can I will need an address of hotel booking for example?

As I have quite a unique visa situation any input would be much appreciated?

Did my first border run this weekend from Chiang Mai to Huay Xai - after much research and overthinking I decided to book 2 nights in Laos to cover myself. Arrived at the friendship bridge and was given a card that said no 2 day run unless you had certain criteria (can't remember exactly but 10000thb available etc), told them I had a DTV visa and was then told by the lovely immigration officer 'oh you have DTV it's multi entry you can go and come back same day, sabai sabai!' 🙃

Not sure if i just got lucky with a nice IO but sharing this info in case it's helpful to anyone needing to do a run up north soon!

Is it now possible to do a border bounce at Friendship BridgeIV (Huayxay Bokeo Thailand) on the same day? I realize this is often asked, but uncertain of current regulations...

I have made this run several times from Chaing Rai earlier last year, but have heard that later there was a mandatory 2 day stay on Laos side at some of the entry points.

I will not be able to meet the 60 days seasoned money for a marriage extension this year. I plan to go to Savannahket and obtain the 1 year multi entry again until I can get seasoned funds.

Anyone been to Savannakhet recently for a marriage based visa? Does the consulate there still do these type of visa? Any specific entry requirements for Laos? Take it a Thai pass is required for coming back in. Would be great to hear if anyone has done this recently and any advise. T.I.A

Okay here is the flip side of my question from the other day. What do I need to do to be able to enter Laos? Is it a whole application process like for coming here? I would assume so but the locals act like I am crazy for not just walking down to the ferry to go across.

Does anyone know if the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet, Laos is open and processing visas?

Also what requirements, apart from a visa, to enter Laos (UK Citizen)?

Sound advice appreciated, no guessing please.

Border-run question. Mexican passport holder with a valid METV (first and only tourist visa) planning a border run to Ubon-Suvanakhet border. This would be the second entry on the visa. Go in, stay one night in Lao and return through the land border. Any expected issues or requests from the IOs there (flight tix, money, hotel bookings, etc). Thank you.

Admin: Probably should post this on a Laos forum, not a member of any, apologies if this post breaches the forum rules. I heard via the bush telegraph that Thai's may enter Laos on their ID card but if staying overnight they need to enter on their passport! Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not? Cheers folks.
