Hello I am in Bangkok on a tourist Visa looking to go to Vientiane, Laos to apply for a DTV Visa.
I have some questions
1. Will I need to apply for an E Visa before going through to Vientiane to Thailand or can I just book an appointment with all documents required and apply in person at the Thai embassy in Vientiane?
Is a Laos entry stamp on passport stuffient forthe current location document or can I will need an address of hotel booking for example?
As I have quite a unique visa situation any input would be much appreciated?
Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Bangkok with a tourist visa and plans to apply for a DTV visa at the Thai embassy in Vientiane. They query whether an E-Visa is necessary prior to their visit or if they can apply in person. The community responses clarify that an E-Visa must be applied for online, and it’s vital to upload their Laos entry stamp and proof of accommodation when applying. In-person submission at the embassy is not allowed, as all applications are processed through the e-visa system, with payments made at the consulate.
All Thai embassy visa applications are online, Vientiane however has in person payment in Thai baht only. On your evisa application form you can upload the passport page with your Laos visa and entry stamp. You can also provide the name of the accommodation you are staying at in Laos. Once inside Laos you can submit your application, download and print the QR CODE for payment and go to the consulate in Vientiane to pay. Do not go to the embassy, go to the consulate.
There is no appointment. All Thai embassies now use the e-visa system and that's where you will apply.
You can fill out the application online before traveling to Laos, but you cannot submit it until you've entered Laos and then also upload your passport page with your Laos entry stamp as proof of your location.
You'll then need to go to the embassy during specific hours to pay for your visa. After that you'll likely be contacted within 2-3 days to go to the embassy and have an interview. Once your interview is complete, most people report receiving their visa in 1-2 days.
