Border-run question. Mexican passport holder with a valid METV (first and only tourist visa) planning a border run to Ubon-Suvanakhet border. This would be the second entry on the visa. Go in, stay one night in Lao and return through the land border. Any expected issues or requests from the IOs there (flight tix, money, hotel bookings, etc). Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Mexican passport holder with a valid METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) plans to do a border run to the Ubon-Savannakhet border for a one-night stay in Laos. There are no expected issues with immigration upon returning, though some advice suggests verifying entry requirements for Mexican citizens when crossing into other countries. Additionally, there are suggestions for alternative crossings and border run locations. Travelers are reminded to confirm all travel and entry requirements, including potential costs and documents needed.

as a curious person I wonder why someone want to fly to Ubon, do a crossing to Laos (pay Laos arrival visa), stay a night there, afaik nothing there and return. There would be easier places to go.

Cambodian border would be OK, just avoid POI PET. The Myanmar border with Kanchanaburi I not sure if they stamp Mexican passport. If you fancy a trip by air you could frly to Chiang Rai and cross at Mae Sai. or fly to Udon and cross at Nong Khai. I will also quickly check entry requirements for Mexicans at Malaysia.
