Just talk to the owner of the group thai visa centre and do a save entry when you come back to thailand.

Why not just go to malaysia or singapore if you know already they accept your passport for entry?

Stop doing boarder runs and get the right type of VISA.

That really depends on two things.

One, being allowed to enter Thailand visa-exempt on an emergency travel document. It depends on the rest of your recent one-year stamp history.

Two, what kind of visa type would that be?

As long as you do not hold a valid 10-years passport, you cannot apply for the “change of visa type” on Immigration inside Thailand. You would need to exit Thailand near the expiry of the stay permit you get granted (if you get it granted, that is!) when you enter visa-exempt. Any online e-visa application to a Thai visa type outside of Thailand requires a 10-year passport.

There is so much uncertainty in your plans and maybe also in your recent stamp history which you have not yet laid open to us.

I would give my dog into the care of monks in a temple and fly back one-way to the USA and get a real passport, before anything.
