I have question about showing proof of funds!

I am a UK citizen but my main account is my NZ bank account where I deposit my income from my role as a freelancer (I have a portfolio where I can show them my work and the income I've accrued over the last few years).

This is where the bulk of my transactions have taken place as I use this to pay for subscriptions/insurance etc.

I don't use my UK bank accounts that much except for locking money away for my savings account.

I am planning to apply in Hanoi soon so I will transfer money from my UK savings account to my NZ bank account so that I have 500k before the next bank statement comes out

Will that cause any issues?

TIA🙏

Hello, I am currently in Thailand and will soon start freelancing. I have seen several people doing the DTV process from Vietnam. I would like to know if I can telework for a few weeks from Vietnam to justify my income? Is it legally allowed? and which kind of visa do I need in Vietnam? (I am French)

Hi everyone. I am thinking of going to Hanoi to apply for the DTV, but I was wondering after sending the application online in Hanoi, can I go to another city like Da Nang for example?

I ask this because Da Nang is part of the Ho Chi Minh Thai embassy area, so I don't know if I can move around Vietnam like that.

Thank you so much 🙏

I wanted to share feedback from HCMC.

I decided not to apply for a DTV after reading posts here that it was getting more difficult, and instead applied for a 60day tourist visa which is supposed to take 5 business days to process.

Today (day 10) they sent 4 emails requesting:

1. Proof I was still in the city from the time I submitted my application. They specifically asked for a selfie with a time and date. I bought today’s newspaper and stood in the market and took the photo.

2. Flight bookings to Bangkok from HCM- I bought 2 flights- one for this week and one for next week.

3. Updated hotel invoice with today’s date showing where I was staying in HCM

4. Flight out of Bangkok at the end of my 60day visa.

Thought this may be helpful to anyone applying for any visa type in HCM.

Sharing my DTV visa timeline.

January 29th landed in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City, and submitted my visa request in the middle of TET.

Feb 3 - first business day, no updates from the embassy.

Feb 4 - second business day, still no updates. Emailed the embassy with “asking for update”.

Feb 5 - third business day. Received a request for additional documents. Submitted the docs, emailed the embassy (replied to their email) and received my e-Visa in an email 40 mins after the email.

Document list:

- Passport.

- Proof of stay: picture from passport with Vietnam’s stamp on it.

- Bank statement (deposit, debit card). Just out of curiosity I added an investment account statement.

- CV + work sample + employment contract.

hello! looking for information from folks that have recently applied as a remote worker in Hanoi. both my partner and myself want to apply (canadian & american).

we have both had language ED visas in the past, and have spent many months over the years in Thailand. I see a lot of info in this chat about extra documents requested, i’ll list here what i’m seeing as necessary. please add your experience and any other documentation you needed!

also, i see people recommending folks to check the specific embassy’s requirements for documentation, but i’m not finding that information on Hanoi’s website outside of the basic requirements.

documents to provide:

- cover letter explaining past and present work and what i’ve been doing in thailand

- work contracts (freelancer from september, employed from jan 1st)

- CV

- examples of my work

- record of employment

- my employer’s company incorporation/registration as a 501c3

- letter from employer about me working remotely

- bank statements showing 500k from how many months? showing incoming payments from my employer. i also was a freelancer being paid in crypto before, should i include that?

- other basic docs like passport scan, passport photo, vietnam entry stamp, vietnam hotel booking

thanks in advance for any support!

I am applying for the Dtv in Ho Chi Minh, but my friend is letting me stay at his apartment while he is away in the US and i‘m paying him directly.

Do i Need to book a hotel to show physical proof i’m in vietnam or can i explain my unique situation?

If i need to book a hotel, how many days does it need to be booked?

Either way is fine but i need to be prepared
