My wife is half Thai and is in the process of obtaining her Thai passport. As her husband, I’m trying to understand what the easiest visa option would be for myself and our two children once she has it? Our children are 1year old and 4 year old.

Would we be able to apply for the appropriate visas from within Thailand while on a tourist visa, or would we need to leave the country to apply?

Also, if her Thai passport isn’t issued before our current tourist visa expires, is it possible for us to switch to education visas instead? In that case, can our children be listed as dependants under one visa, or would each family member need their own visa arrangement?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated

I would like to apply for a DTV visa soft power in Hanoi. Like other places, do I need to prove that I have maintained a balance of 500,000 baht for three consecutive months at the Thai Embassy in Hanoi? Or do I just need to prove that I had a balance of 500,000 baht or more at the beginning of each month?

*The Hanoi Embassy DTV notice does not include a 3-month retention clause.

Was it a bad idea for me to apply at Phnom Penh on August 11?

The embassy is open and accepting applications, but I'm still waiting for a status on the DTV.

I ask because no one seems to be going to that embassy anymore in this group.

I heard Ed Thai visa cannot be done from Thai embassy anymore and it is done by applying and submitting papers online only and getting the stamp in passport upon arriving. My question is what is the mode of payment? Is that limited to online payment? And what can I do if my card just expired few days ago and it’s gonna take over two weeks for replacement. Is there any other way to pay?

I currently get a DTV visa just yesterday, but I need a DTV sticker to apply for a dependent visa. Since I’m currently in Cambodia, could I obtain the DTV visa sticker from the Thai Embassy here?

Is the Non IMM O spouse multi entry visa getting phased out from the overseas embassies ?

I use to always get mine from Singapore. Then it stopped, during COVID, with Single option only now. I was lucky to get one from Savannakhet on a recent trip back at the end of last year, however that is touch and go, with no clear multi entry option in writing on their site.

I just had a look at what the Evisa site offers, and they too are only single entry.

Is the overseas and online option a permanent move to single entry ? What are the other options please ?

Someone referred to an on-line visa which was probably a reference to the E-Visa system that, it appears from the attached, is being tested in three countries (this from the Thai Embassy in Paris). The London site has some useful information here - [[members only]).

May explain why Thai Consulates around the world are all doing something different as they await the result of the trials.

I also hear that 2nd applications for O-A visas are being subjected to a further requirement for Retirement ie. 800k in a Thai Bank.

Looks to me as though Thailand in the future will only want ex-pat retirees if they have made an investment in cash.
