Has anyone done a border run/bounce out of Thailand into Laos and straight back in again recently at Nong Khai/Vientiane? I have a bit of history in my passport, 2 tourist visas and a non-B plus a 30 day visa exempt for 2019.

Will they let me back in on a 30 day exempt based on that it's a new year or will eyebrows be raised about my history? Thanks for any info. (UK passport)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question discusses the feasibility of a border run from Thailand to Laos and back, particularly for a traveler with prior visa history. Comments suggest that, despite the history, the individual should be allowed entry on a visa exempt basis due to the new year. It is advisable to prepare by showing proof of funds, a booking address in Thailand, and having adequate space and validity in the passport for visas and stamps.

just to add: Take or 35 USD or 1.500 Thb and 2 passport pictures with you for the Laos Visa on Arrival.

Be sure you have enough space in your passport, 1 page for the visa and a half page for the stamps.

Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 more months.

You should be OK as this is a new year. And Border selection is OK too. From UK you should be OK.

For added safety...IF asked, SHOW 20,000 Thai baht in CASH or equal...booking address in Thailand.

A ticket out in 89 days ???

And the day you go is the day that my crystal ball does not work.

Sorry, but even the tea leaves did not tell me if you are allowed back in or not. Nong Khai is a very relaxed border checkpoint, be prepared if questions asked and good luck.
