What are the current rules for obtaining a 60-day METV in Thailand, and how does visa history affect entry?

How is Hong Kong these days for 60day METV? (edit: SETV*)

Also, if people are having issues with number of visas someone has, are they counting every visa you've ever had in the passport or just the ones from the past year?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the 60-day METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) and related entry issues to Thailand. Participants share experiences with Tourist visas, noting that Thai immigration officials check both recent and historical visa records when assessing entry, utilizing a computerized system to track travel history. Concerns are raised about the possibility of being denied entry based on accumulated visa counts, regardless of their age.

for about 2 years now I have been in Thailand on Tourist visas. I am not sure how many and I am too lazy to count. I have not yet had any issues. I do fly and when I am gone I stay gone 2+ weeks, U.S. passport. I hope that helps.

I guess I don’t have to worry

60 day METV? I hope you just made a typing error. You can apply for the Single Entry Tourist Visa, which gives you 60 days of stay. Most Thai Consulates and Embassies just check your passport and count the amount of Tourist Visa in there, not only from this year. When you come back into Thailand the Immigration Officer sees your history of entering, leaving, visa or visa exempt used and even the digital pictures.

Thanks for all the advice. I am working on a more "proper" visa, it's just taking longer than I'd planned to get what I need in order.

Correct, they might. It is the decision of the staff of the Consulate or Embassy and after that on entry the decision of the Immigration Officer. If you have a long history of Tourist Visa and Visa Exempt make sure you have the proof of funds, 20.000 Thb cash, proof of accommodation and proof on onward travel when you enter Thailand. Next to that I advice proof of money coming in from abroad to avoid the suspicion of working in Thailand. If you get questioned or keep on being worried it is time to check on a proper visa to stay and live in Thailand.

Yes, that was a typo, thanks. So, they might have an issue with me even though some of the previous visas are years old?

Thai Immigration upon entry to Thailand is computerized. They have immediate access to all your travel activity in and out of Thailand. A new passport does not erase that record.

its a roll of the dice when you arrive into Thailand and stand in front of the Thai Immigration Officer. Its been reported persons have been denied entry at Thai Immigration even though they have obtained a visa from a Thai Consulate.

That wasn't my question. I need to know if they're using the computer to see recent visits (preferable) or if they just count all the stickers, ignore that some are from years ago, and give me crap about it.
