My passport needs renewing next year so when I return to Thailand with it, the immigration officer won’t know how many times I’ve been in & out of Thailand unless he goes into the system am I right thinking that 🤔

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the misconception that Thai immigration may not know a person's travel history upon passport renewal. Several commenters clarify that Thai immigration has advanced biometric systems and a comprehensive computer database that tracks all entries and exits. They emphasize that fingerprint scans and passport scans provide immigration officials with access to detailed travel histories regardless of passport changes.

Forgot that you was photographed and got you fingerprints taken !

They even use facerecognition, also on cctv and police vehicles, so don’t think they will not know who you are and where you have been.

Don't believe people who say they will not know. 10 years ago maybe. But today they will know. However being Thailand you might slip through. But again... don't count on it.
Doug *******
Make sure you bring your old one. I speak as ex Border Force. It is far easier if you make sure you have your old passport with you…..just in case.
Lincoln *******
You really think they just flick through the pages and count up the stamps?... smh
Simon ********
Yes .they don't write your entry on a piece ov paper. Then after shift throw it in the bin.hmm.theres a tech world !
Caress ******
The legitimate question I change my password anytimes through the years. And I think there is a lag time when you change it from old to new. I'm not sure how long that is but I think there is a lag time on the passport. But no lag time on finger prints unfortunately.
Giorgio ******
@Caress *****
no no no . finger prints + your name is widely enough anywhere in the world

Thai Immigration has been using computers for years now - they'll know.
Tai **********
So you really think if you get blacklisted from Thailand all you have to do is change your passport? 🤦
Brandon *********
Don’t be silly

It’s only the document who expires not the records who goes with it

You will have to do the new digital entry app three days before arrival so all your information should be on computer if the new system is working correctly.
Darin ********
No if you arrive visa exempt you did the paper form on arrival
Tai **********
@Darin *******
it was before that too, nothing changes in that regard.
Darin ********
@Tai *********
the only thing that has changed is as l said you must apply online three days before arrival
Darin ********
@Tai *********
yes l agree but now going from paper to digital should let everyone know three days before arrival if where will be any problems
Ste****
@Darin *******
just out of curiosity not trying to talk down on you or anything 🙏🏼 but what paper are you talking about? I never had to fill in anything when i arrived on a visa exempt.
Tai **********
@Darin *******
it was all digital before too 😅 you know they have your finger prints and picture right? And they scan your passport every time you enter the country or do an extension? Again nothing changed

Jim *******
There was a story in Japan press about a Chinese woman who switched her left and right fingertips (ooouch, surgicaly, in China) trying to fool the Japan Immigration.

Since the story made it into the media, they got her.
Naj *************
You are registered with your fingerprint!

This new DTAC system is part of a wider transformation of the country’s migration policy, which is already underway with the deployment of electronic visas (e-Visa) and tighter monitoring of entry/exit to the country.
Lynnette *******
@Pertti ************
so Thailand coming in line with other countries like UK, USA etc. it's a simple travel info "card".
Nongnuch ********
@Pertti ************
It's TDAC. not DTAC
Pertti *************
@Nongnuch *******
yes I had work to do.
Peter **********
Once you put your hand on the screen

They can nearly tell what you had for lunch !!
Peter **********
Rubbish , if your visa is expired you will be denied entry

I’m talking about the electronic gates at airports not land border crossing points
Matthew *********
@Peter *********
they don't spend time reading in most cases. It's impossible if it takes 15 seconds to process and stamp. Y'all forget it's Thailand. It's impossible if it takes less than a minute to go thru. Everytime I pass it literally takes a few seconds. Maybe Thais can read at speed that nobody else can 555. Doubt it, worst school system in Asia
Peter **********
@Matthew ********
the panel is connected to the Immigration System which is computerised , so take a nanosecond to flag up any issues
Matthew *********
@Peter *********
that may be case but I can't tell I have immigration officer just open and stamp never taking their eye off the passport. Last guy was so cool and said sorry your visa expired and wish me luck with renewal.
Peter **********
This has to be a wind up surely
Michael ********
Its all saved my sons got 25 years of pictures interesting to see
Stuart ******
@Michael *******
that would be amazing seeing the entry and leaving pics for the last 25 years I'm sure every one of the leaving pics of me would look glum
Nigel **************
He will scan your passport and see all your travel history
Tom ***********
And they have your fingerprints.
Richard *********
No, it is all in their computer
Andy ******
Every passport go through system before you get stamped
Michael **********
Haha they know
Sarah ******
@Michael *********
Unlike the UK immigration who have no idea who they let in .. I believe there was no history.. mess there. Thailand knows and well recorded
