Who is a real tourist in Thai?

Been to Thai 110 times since year 2000.

Never stayed longer than what then was 30 days visa exemption. Never extensions.

Never even knew that Thai Immigration even existed. Now, on Non O 1 year extension, I know.

We traveled around Thai, maybe 35,000 km rentacar. Travel, tourism

The hotels (maybe 50 of them) we had stayed at are still sending me (spamming) emails "Thank you for staying with us, we want to see you again". Their promotions and discounts.

That is is what a tourist is. Several times a year, some years 7-8 times.

Hi everyone 👋

We are DTV holders and got our visas from our home country. In 2025 we have already flown in and out of Thailand 4 times. Each stay is usually around 3 months, then we fly to another country for a short holiday about a week and come back again.

By the end of 2025, our total time in Thailand will be around 240 days. We are planning to fly to Laos again in January and return after a week.

Just wondering if anyone here has stayed in Thailand for a similar number of days in 2025 and still had no issues re entering at the airport? We would really love to hear your experience.

We have 2 cats waiting for us in Bangkok, so we are a bit nervous about the possibility of being denied entry 😅

Thanks so much in advance!

I just watched a YouTube video posted today from a visa agent in Pattaya, he stated that a maximum of 2 visa exempt entries in 1 calendar year into Thailand is law now and that anyone trying to re-enter more than twice on visa exempt in 1 calendar year will be refused entry at immigration, regardless, even if you have never applied for an extension or done border bounces before.

My friend is due to arrive from Australia on Wednesday, he has done 2 visa exempt entries this year and has always returned to Australia after each visit, his last entry in to Thailand was August this year.

Will he be denied entry this time, he is applying for a tourist visa today after hearing this news but he may not receive the visa in time for his departure flight from Australia this Wednesday?

I currently have the below travel pattern in Thailand for the last 3 years. I have always used the 60 days visa exemption to enter because I come on holiday every time.

I come in October and stay less than 60 days, after this I go in my home country. I then come again end of January, I stay for less than 60 days and go home.

I have done this for the last 3 years, never overstaying, never coming in more than 2 times per year and never had any problems.

Considering the new rules, to continue doing this, do you think I need a DTV now? Or I can still use the 60 days visa exemption?

Many thanks.

Do denials of entry (because of too many tourist visas or visa exempt entries) seem to happen more often at airports than at land borders?

I am wondering if it's better to fly to a nearby country like Malaysia and enter Thailand overland instead of flying directly into Thailand.

Even though I haven't been in Thailand for 1.5 years now, I have entered visa exempt quite a few times in the years before that and am worried about being forced to fly back home, since I read about so many people being denied entry recently (especially at airports?).
