Has anyone in this group made a claim on their travel insurance when traveling in Thailand? If so, how successful was it?

I’ve got a dilemma re travel insurance. I’m nearly 70 years old and will be traveling January-March, Thailand and Laos. I am in good health, no pre existing health conditions. I have researched and I am being quoted £450 up. The supposedly better ones at around £800 and above. When reading reviews, they seem to be more focused on the price of the actual cover, rather than any claims. It seems the majority of people have difficulties when trying to claim. So many exclusions and ways that the company will try and get out of paying. I am seriously considering not bothering and taking the chance. Am I crazy or what?

I am in search of a lawyer in Thailand that could possibly help me. I had an accident while I was in Thailand for 2 months at the beginning of the year that has left me partially disabled. I was on a liveaboard diving boat when I got decompression sickness. Because my dive was routine (according to the dive computer) the owners of the boat refused to believe that I had decompression sickness. I pleaded with them to get me off of the boat, they refused to believe I had DCS they kept insisting it was just a pinched nerve in my spine. They refused to get me off of the boat and to medical treatment the dive accident happened in the early morning and they did not get me off of the boat until the early evening despite my pleas. This delay in getting me treatment has now left me with permanent damage to my spinal cord. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital with severe decompression sickness and 50 hours in the hyperbaric chamber there. If anyone could possibly recommend a lawyer who could possibly help me with this that would be very much appreciated.

Hi there,

this is an everything question, related to accident insurance bought in Thailand.I have two questions: 1) I'm curious if anyone who may have an accident policy with AIA, has successfully made a claim with the company.

2) Also, people who have an accident insurance policy thru Bangkok Bank, which insurance company is the policy with?

Also, has anyone used the policy to make a claim, successfully?

Thanks...

Hi all..not a Visa question but about motor insurance.

Looking for recommendations only decent one I've found so far is Rooja. Would like to have a few others to compare policy versus price before I commit to one. Particularly interested if anyone has had a make a claim and how it was dealt with, any hassle?

Found a couple of comparison sites and not that impressed with them as the third party insurance cover seems totally inadequate.

Many thanks in advance 🙏🏼👍🏼

AXA travel health coverage attempted to reimburse me for a cheap hospital visit in Bangkok but got the account number wrong. Now I can't get anybody to respond to me in order to fix this and it's been months now that I've been requesting assistance. I do NOT recommend AXA travel insurance for Thailand. Beware!

I had a motorbike accident yesterday on Rama IV with my Honda Rebel 500. A Thai woman on a scooter cut across 5 lanes of gridlocked traffic without checking for motorbikes and collided with me in the 5th lane. In the photos below, she's the red line and I'm the green line. I was accelerating because the light was green. There was a car blocking the view so we didn't see each other and collided at high speed. Neither of us have broken bones. Just some scrapes and bruises. An ambulance came and took her to a hospital. I told them I was fine and rode home on my motorbike. I wasn't sure if I should call the insurance company and ask them to come to the scene of the accident. I only have the compulsory insurance. The Honda service center estimates that it will cost 15K baht to fix my motorbike. I'm wondering, would her insurance pay for the repairs since she was clearly at fault? Or should I not expect them to pay for the repairs? If so, why? If you think they would pay for the repairs, how long should I expect it to take? What's the process? I'm talking with her daughter in Line. Thanks!
