Looking for reviews on nomad insurance. I'm looking at Genki and Safety Wing. Has anyone made a claim from Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on reviews of nomad insurance options, particularly Genki and Safety Wing, from expats in Thailand. Users share positive experiences with Genki, highlighting quick reimbursement times for claims made both in Thailand and abroad. In contrast, Safety Wing's process is critiqued for requiring upfront payments before claiming. Some users also inquire about local insurance providers in Thailand, with recommendations for AIA and AXA.
Hi I’ve been with Genki for over a year now. I’ve successfully claimed when I was in Australia and also here in Thailand. Got the money back in about a week.

Used to have Nomad Wings and switched to Genki but I don't remember why 😅 I never had to use either thankfully

I've had solid experiences with Genki thus far on their explorer plan, all claims have been approved and reimbursed within 2 weeks generally regardless of where I've traveled using it.
isnt it better to have an insurance that pays the hospital directly?

Normally, I would say yes if you're not comfortable floating medical costs for a few weeks. In my case, my plan pays upfront for hospital emergencies requiring inpatient care, all other claims are paid after the fact minus a 50 Euro deductible per claim. In exchange I pay 35 Euro a month, so it's cheap.
