Can I bring my mom's cat to Thailand under my DTV visa?

Hello,

I've got a DTV visa and have been happily living in Thailand for the past year.

I wanted to know if I can bring my mom's cat (long story lol) under my visa from France? Has anybody done it and what was the process like?

Thank you🙂

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, holding a DTV visa, inquired about the process of bringing a cat from France to Thailand. Community responses indicated that pets do not require a visa but must meet specific health requirements such as vaccinations and microchipping. To bring a cat, an import license from the Veterinary Authority in Thailand is necessary, and documentation for the cat, including a health certificate and potentially a titer test, must be prepared. Experiences shared highlight that while the process is manageable, it can be complex and time-consuming, with some recommending using a pet relocation service for smoother handling of paperwork.

We were able to bring ours too, just not from France. If you’re feeling busy or unsure about the paperwork and process, I’d really recommend using a pet relocation service. That’s what we did and it made everything so much smoother. Wishing you and your little cutie all the best!

Animals don't need visas they need vaccinations and paperwork it's not massively difficult (I was surprised by how easy it actually was) contact PAWS Phuket they helped me massively with all my questions, paperwork and even a different carrier in BKK as the airlines had different requirements

Good luck

Then when arrive herr need to decalre to import living

Then declare toll

Its very expensive and very time consuming

Participant(e) anonyme after finished in france you need to contact thailand to warn them i dont remember the email, flight company will ask for the answer, and french documents.

When arrive in thailand you get the pet on big luggages, then go to pet and living office or something like, which is NOT open

, you need to book appropriate flight.

Then you pay them a tax. I think it was 2000 thb for my small dog, they give you like a paper

After you have to go toll and declare and you pay again.

After its done. Just need to find the good taxi that accept it😬

You can bring pets regardless of what visa you have. Cat needs to be microchipped, have rabies vaccination and if you intend on ever bringing it back to Europe, also a titer test. Apply for an import license from the Veterinary Authority in Thailand (they will also tell you exactly what to do, which vaccines are required, etc) and upon arrival go to them to get the license (you need this to pass customs).

if arriving in BKK (Suvarnabhumi) or

if arriving in Phuket.

If the cat incl carrier weighs max 8kg you can take it as hand luggage on some airlines, which is much more comfortable for the cat than being in hold.

Please be aware that domestic flights in Thailand don’t allow pet in cabin.

yes she will be taken as a hand luggage cause ain't no way she's going anywhere else. I had a very bad experience with my mom's cats being thirsty like I've never seen after a 30 hour journey with one layover, like the airline staff just completely forgot to give them water during the entire trip. Thank you for your help!

Anonymous participant my tip would be, bring liquid snacks. My cat wouldn’t drink water but she loves these snacks so that was an easy way to get some fluids in her. Without being too much and making her pee (she never did any 💦 or 💩 during any of our flights thankfully 😅)
