Has anyone brought over their dogs? If so how did you go about it and what company did you use? Also are you allowed to do so on a DTV?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of bringing pets to Thailand is largely independent of the type of visa held, including the DTV. It involves obtaining the necessary health certificates from a qualified veterinarian and an import permit from the Thai Animal Quarantine Section. Several users shared their positive experiences using services like Pawsitive Pet Transport and Cabin Companions for assistance. The final customs procedures upon arrival are straightforward, with fees usually around 1500 baht. However, challenges may arise when returning to countries with strict pet import regulations.

I brought my 2 cats with the help of a company. I highly recommend it because what I thought would have been easy turned out to have more working parts behind it.

I used

Good luck!

Bringing your pet here is the easy part. I did it myself without an agency.

It’s getting your pets home from Thailand is what you need to focus on. Check your home countries regulations.

Personally if I ever wanted to go back to Australia, I’d have to move from Thailand to a different country for a few months and then head back home with my dog. I’m not sure if can be done directly as Thailand isn’t listed in any of the groups of approved countries to import pets from into Australia. Even if it could be done directly I wouldn’t be putting my dog through the minimum 30 day and probably longer quarantine. But Australia has very strict biosecurity so I imagine your country would be a bit more forgiving.

Anonymous participant 566 yes Australia is the hardest country to import pets too. Where OP is from (the UK) is much easier and actually the UK is a pet stop over option from Thailand for 7 months before coming back to Australia. I bought 7 pets with me to Thailand from Australia and 2 of the cats I bought were initially imported into Australia from the Ukraine. The process to import all 7 pets here, compared to just 2 into Australia was like night and day 😂 the 7 being that much easier!

Thanks everyone, I’ll be coming from the uk, has anyone had any experience with taking a dog reactive dog over? My dog loves people but is very animal reactive and I’m worried about how he would cope on the flight over? X

I used jetset pets years ago. It’s quite expensive and in hindsight I don’t think it’s too necessary

air travel with dogs becomes wildly complex pretty quickly. There’s a Bangkok pets group that I don’t how to link but also talk to

I brought one dog from the U.S. with me four years ago. On the U.S. side (or whatever your country is), make sure you are using a vet who has experience in helping to issue USDA health certificates or export permits.

The Thai import side is pretty easy. Just email the Thai Animal Quarantine Section at Bangkok airport to request an import permit and they will tell you what you need to send them so they can issue the permit.

When I landed, my dog was in cargo and an airport employee escorted my dog and me to the Animal Quarantine Section office. They checked the documents and then sent me to customs for final checks. Paid fees of around 1500 baht total if I remember correctly.

The visa you have doesn’t make a difference on bringing your pets.

We came from the States and brought our two medium sized dogs. We hired
