Was recently approved for the LTR visa( Pensioner). Took approximately 2.5 months from application to approval. I elected to process the application myself , as fairly easy to do , albeit a lot of paper. I provided two years of bank statements to support passive income, outside of my pension income which was supported by income tax documents. Be aware though you require to have medical insurance (Thai) in place as part of the application and needs to cover up to at least 10 months while in Thailand.

I elected to go the LTR route as while presently hold the Elite visa, it expires next year and felt the amount required to renew wasn’t justified, or the “benefits” of the elite visa didn’t make sense for me.

I searched through the "passive income" bar for the LTR visa and I was never able to ascertain if a U.S pension, social security and 401K monthly payment to reach the 80K yearly threshold an approved way to meet the criteria to get approved.

LTR Wealthy Pensioner question...

I am in the later stages of LTR online application.

I submitted 2023 tax return, income docs, and proof of insurance, etc. It seems like they accepted that and then asked for 2024 YTD income.

I uploaded the standard online SS letter showing 2024 monthly benefit (also a letter for pension monthly payment) and a July statement showing 2024 YTD dividends.

But now they are giving me this message in document uploads needed:

"Please provide evidence that you received passive income in your portfolio in 2024"

Not sure about the wording. I am guessing maybe they want to see my monthly SS etc deposits into my checking account?

That's 7 months Checking accnt stmts X many pages for pensions (and 7 months X five accounts for dividends).

They have a 25mb upload limit (and the rule is only upload one document per each BOI request).

They haven't responded on email or FB Messenger for three business days. Not answering calls at BOI.

Has anyone received this message and gotten clarification on what and how many docs one needs to submit to answer their request?

I am selling my house and moving to Thailand. I am almost retired and live off passive income but not 50 yet so I need to do the soft power option of the DTV. Does anyone know how to get a letter from a Muay Thai gym . I’m active and think I would enjoy doing that but have no idea how I go about getting an acceptance letter and what is needed on it . My husband and I are looking at the LTR visa and wondering if any of you have this visa. I’m trying to get clarity for the wealthy pensioner category. I have 2 questions I can’t seem to get answers for.

1. One of the criteria is to show a personal income of 80,000 USD/year at the time of application. My question is what classifies as personal income? Is it my current W2 which includes my current job salary and investments?

2. If I have under 80,000 in personal income, I can also put 250,000 in a Thai bond. Do you know how long I have to keep it in a Thai bond? Is it the entire time we potentially stay as residents?

Hi. Question for those who have submitted paperwork for LTR with passive income. Did you leave your Social security number on tax forms and other necessary paperwork? Not comfortable with having it on there, but also don’t want to endanger my application. Any advice?

Question regarding METV..

Once my current ED visa runs out in June, I plan to leave Thailand until the end of the year. My girlfriend is Thai so we like to visit her homecountry atleast half a year out of every following year starting in 2021. It seems that the METV is the best option for this (especially after a two year history on border bounces, setv’s and a year ED visa).

I did a bit of research on the METV and I see some websites saying that a letter of employment is required but I also see some websites mention that not all consulates require this. Can anybody elaborate on this? I basically have a passive revenue stream so I have no chance of acquiring such document. All the other requirements shouldn’t be an issue and I’m aware of the $7000 bank statement too.
