DTV Rejected

I'm at a complete loss. Applied at HCMC under soft power. I meet every single requirement for the visa, I'm a US passport holder, showed 2x the required savings solely in my name, did a 1 year Muay Thai, explained my 5 year plan, showed non work related income (husbands veteran disability) for passive income to sustain living in Thailand, sponsor letter from him for the income, documentation from the VA showing me as his dependent in terms of disability payments. Not getting any explanation for denial is extremely frustrating and I would love to apply again as I truly want to train Muay Thai but I'm not going to waste my time or money if I don't know the reason for denial. Anyone have any suggestions?

usually you have to have a long-term visa for the place you are getting it, but as the other guy said, he knows people getting it in Vietnam. I could get one in Singapore, as I was on a long-term pass there, but even on a six-month visa I had for Cambodia, I couldn't get one.

I’m a U.S. citizen and just got approved for my DTV in Vientiane, Laos. There were other Americans doing the same thing there at the same time as I was. In person interview was simple and straightforward.

Currently the best place around Thailand to go when applying for the dtv is Yangon in Myanmar. The Thai embassy there has the least pressure of any country around Thailand. Most go to Vietnam, and have long waits, with a number of rejections. Yangon doesn't have that problem. They are by the book, but a lot faster, and it is very cheap to wait there.

US citizens have no restrictions on where to apply for the DTV, as long as the embassy/consulte itself is one accepting non-residents (some are, but especially in Europe, Japan and Korea).

Yeah I've been told the same that it used to be not possible, but it was in these 2 cases :)

I know two guys who had to get an METV in Singapore because they were coming up almost every month on Visa exempt, and they were told to get it. When I lived in Singapore, I was up 10 to 12 times a year for a couple of years, and probably 6 to 8 others. I was never told I needed one. I think it's just the luck of the draw from there.

No, some citizenships (most notably African countries) are barred from applying anywhere but on their own home country.
