Update on my DTV.

Due for the 180 day extension so decided having read many comments on here, the least hassle seemed to leave Thailand and come back again, especially as my visa was issued based on soft power...learning the Thai language .

Drove up to Nong Khai, parked up, and went through the border control and got stamped out of Thailand. Caught the bus over the bridge to Laos and joined the big queue for visa on arrival that I had been warned about...actually non existant...just walked up to the counter, took the visa form and the arrival and departure slip. All the same info three times, handed back to the IO...who did not check any information on the forms whatsoever, just said 1700 baht please, pick up your passport from window 4, which I did and it was duly stamped into Laos. Intended to stay overnight, but circumstances decided that wasn't going to happen, so looked around the shops for an hour or so...I don't smoke but couldn't believe the price of fags...200 Marlborough...140 baht !!!

Anyway, went to the departure desk, handed in the departure slip and IO stamped me out of Laos. Back over the bridge by bus toThailand wondering what would happen after such a short time. Joined the very short queue at immigration, showed my passport and DTV, IO asked where I was staying in Thailand...told him, he stamped my passport back into Thailand, no other questions, very pleasant man.

Got in my car and drove back.

Absolutely no problem at all.

Thought you would like to know...

Hey. I’m seeing a lot of people saying they are not getting there DTV granted and that Thai authorities are being a lot stricter etc.

Has anyone had any success stories recently in the last couple of weeks?

Is it still safe to apply from bordering countries like Vietnam, Cambodia etc?

I am planning to visit Vietnam very soon and apply. I have all the required documents but just wondering is there anything to look out for? I have been on tourist visa in Thailand since last June and have done some border runs, could that have any negative impact? Would going through an agent help at all?

My company is situated in Europe but is now fully remote.

Thanks

EDIT: thanks so much for all the replies folks!! @admins: would it be helpful to start setting up an F.A.Q?

Hey everybody, Firstly thanks so much for all the great advice. I have a few question about the requirements:

- can I can have 500K baht across different bank accounts that are in my name? or does it need to be in a single account?

- I also heard that you need to show proof of salaries equivalent to >= 80K usd per year. is this correct? it would be a problem for me as I've been working parttime the last year

- lastly, can I apply for the DTV visa while I have an active other VISA? I currently have an ED one

Hello!

After the DTV is approved, I want to transfer my income from my home country to a local bank in Thailand to use for my living expenses.

However, in this case, if I live in Thailand for more than 180 days, will I have to pay extra taxes to Thailand on the transferred amount?

I am from a country that has a DTA(double taxation agreement) with Thailand.

Question.

I have a DTV visa valid until 2030. I entered Thailand in December 2024 on a 60 day tourist visa (my DTV had been applied for several weeks before, but not yet issued).

The 60 visa stamp in my passport expires soon, but the paper printout DTV is of course still valid.

I am due to fly out of Thailand in about 2 weeks time.

Do I need to do anything?

Will the expired visa in my passport cause an issue or will it be covered by my e-visa?

Thanks in advance

I have a non-immigrant B visa. My visa runs out on the 1. December later this year.

That visa is connected to my work permit.

The work permit expires in February.

I will stop work, but I am not planning on going home before late April.

I will return in September and is planning on getting a work permit again.

Is it allowed for me to stay on my current visa until April or do I need to do something?

People keep saying you can’t keep coming in on a 60 day visa exempt. We have been travelling Asia the last 3 years, so end up coming into Thailand app 3 or 4 times a year. If I shouldn’t be using visa exempt people say get dev. But we aren’t working we are travelling, so don’t fit the requirements. What else should we do?We are not retiring here either, so the visa exempt is our only option that I know of. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Help Needed - Land Crossing

I exited Thailand on a Tourist visa recently. Immigration pulled me aside and said I cannot cross again. I don't know why because I have never entered or exited Thailand by land before and have just one Tourist visa stamp. I had a marriage visa prior but let that expire and hopped on a tourist visa before doing the necessary for the DTV.

I secured my DTV. I have the physical stamp in my passport now.

Does anyone know if I'll have problems crossing by land now that I have a DTV visa in my passport?

I had some say I've been flagged and it matters now that I don't cross by land again but I can't believe it's true unless I was trying for a tourist visa on arrival.
