TLDR : Answer Summary
To maintain a marriage extension visa in Thailand, you generally need to have at least 400,000 baht in a bank account. This amount typically must be in your name and easily accessible, meaning that it should not be in a fixed deposit account. It's advisable to keep a little more than 400,000 baht to account for any potential bank charges that might reduce your balance below this threshold. The acceptance of interest-earning accounts can vary by immigration office, so it's best to confirm with your local office for their specific requirements.
I have mine with government savings bank. I get interest and the monthly prize draw. So far I win 800 baht each month. They also do the letter immigration required and the funds are safe with gsb
Depends on the immigration office, they all seem to have different views on it, whether or not interest accounts are excepted. Best speak to your local office where you do the extension and ask. Remember though it can change, with the wind. iO officer’s need for tea money. The 400k is supposed to accessible if s*** hits the fan and you need money to not become a burden.
