Wanting sanity check on this. My US obtained METV (valid until Oct 31) and my last METV border bounce got me admitted until Dec 25, 2018. My CM approved TM7 extension takes me to January 25 2019. I believe a second CM TM7 30 day request will result in a denial with 7 days to vacate? So ā€“ to get 60 more days Iā€™m thinking Vientaine for SETV (20,000 bht, proof of onward travel and accommodations) or just a visa run to Mae Sai for 30 day new visa exempt stamp ? Also if I do the Mae Sai option for a new 30 day visa exempt does the new 30 days start immediately upon entry into thailand or does it tack onto the TM7 extension?

So, I wanted to post my experience in getting an ed visa done in Phnom Penh.

I got to the Thai embassy before the doors opened on Tuesday ( 24th ) . I was one of the first people there and filled out my tourist visa pretty fast and submitted my application and other pertinent paperwork. ( the place really started to get busy about 9:30 ). I also submitted my bank information , which I do not think is required but I went ahead and did it.

I had to wait around about 45 mins to an hr for the consulate to review my application. I paid the fee and got a receipt to pick it up on Thursday at 3-4pm. Went in on thursday ( 26th ) and picked it up immediately.

So, it appears if all your ducks are in a row. Then Phnom Penh is not a bad place to get it done.

Cheers, and thks to the group for answers to questions, previously before I went.

I have been flying in and out of Bangkok repeatedly on the Tourist Visa. This round, they wrote "PD314" on top of my stamp. Any idea what it means? Tod Daniels?

Hi. Just wanted to sanity check my plans.

I have UK passport on ed visa (1 year) obtained at Vientiane. It ends on the 5th and my school has put in cancellation.

I want to stay for another 3-6 months and am hoping I will be ok on a couple of SETVs.

The plan is:

1. print off bank statement for consulate

2. book flights and return (3-4 days in Laos) + accom

3. leave on 4th

4. go from CM to Vientiane by plane

5. withdraw 20k baht for return

6. return by land crossing

7. get plane from udon thani to CM

8. ? report?

9. extend visa by 30 day when possible

Some questions:

1. does the above sound ok?

2. can I screenshot statements from my phone (don't have access to online banking on desktop or have any paper statements)

3. is it better to pull out money before leaving or when I'm in Vientiane?

4. should I go to a different consulate?

5. what do I report on return?

*note, I know I can get visa exempt entries but I have no interest in hopping in and out of the country every 60 days. I'd prefer to just extend a couple SETVs if I can.
