Americans can apply online for a DTV while in America, but my question is, how would they know if you weren't in America at the time of applying?

Has anyone been in this situation and had no issues?

AND

For Thai soft-power reasons does anyone have any additional info for what's required... like how many medical procedures must I have planned and over what period of time to be able to use the recommendation letter?

Thanks!

Hi all, I'm trying to get an e-visa (Non-Imm O/retirement) for Thailand. I have Brazilian and US passports and am applying with my Brazilian.

The problem is that I'm currently visiting family in Canada and will fly from Vancouver to Bangkok. My understanding from reading old posts here is that one must apply for an e-visa from the country from which you'll be flying to Thailand, which is why I chose Canada instead of the US.

I don't have a Canadian visa because I entered on my American passport. The application wanted proof that I'm in Canada, for which I uploaded my air ticket from Vancouver to Thailand. I also uploaded my Thai bank statement, which shows the required 800k baht.

Unfortunately, the Thai embassy replied with:

* Other request documents: Please upload a Canada PR card, visa or permit

* Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 65,000 THB or having the current balance of 800,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings: Please upload a bank statement with your name showing a monthly income of no less than 2,600 CAD or a current balance of 32,000 CAD

They seem to think I live in Canada and are not allowing for me to just be passing through. They also ignored my Thai bank account.

My questions: can I get an e-visa from a country I'm not resident in? If not, can I reapply from the USA and still fly to Thailand from Canada? And what's the problem with showing the 800k in my Thai bank account?

Thanks for any advice!

In my opinion, visiting first and researching the areas, as well as inquiring about requirements, is the best approach for me.

As a retired federal employee and Veteran, reading these posts can be overwhelming and disappointing due to some providing valuable advice while others make condescending remarks towards those unfamiliar with the process.

Not everyone has 800,000 Baht to invest in a Thai account, similarly, Portugal requires $10,000. Social media is making it seem as tho this is the place to be and have people jumping on planes , moving and not doing proper researching or planning. Why, because all they are seeing is low rent, food etc which will change the more people move there.

I prefer not to rely on another country's resources by coming there with no income. I would like to hear more from some of the men/women veterans who have moved to Thailand and retired. What do you do for VA appointments etc.? What visa they have?

I am seeking an stress-free environment without depleting my monthly retirement benefits.

peace and a stress-free lifestyle

Medical insurance…

PLEASE ONLY POST IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUS / CURRENT CLAIMS EXPERIENCE.

Would like to hear from members experiences with medical insurance companies. Who have you used that have good customer service and settled your claim without any fuss?

Not sure if we can mention the bad ones due to laws here in Thailand? I’m sure someone will clarify if that can be discussed.

Thanks in advance.
