For Americans, you got 6 months in Europe and got 2 months in Thailand without a visa, that doesn’t mean Thailand is less friendly to you than Europe, mostly because Thailand wants to generate more revenues from tourism by forcing you extending your visa or jumping back and forth, cutting the staying from 2 months to 30 days also aiming the same, generating more revenues, but this will bring more inconvenient for travelers and may affect their plans.

Called the NY consulate today and asked for an update on my visa application, since my flight is soon and their processing time is currently around a month. A staff member told me that even if I don't get approved in time, I can go to Thailand as a tourist and once approved, I can leave the country and re-enter with my visa.

Though I suppose immigration could still turn you away when you try to enter.

I am going to apply for the visa on April 28th and will provide a bank statement with a cash balance as of April 6th. Is that okay, or should the balance be from a date closer to when I apply?

I've applied for a "non immigrant - O", 3 month e-visa, but still have not heard any response. I have a flight booked back to Thailand with my Thai family on Thursday 24th. Do I have to wait behind in UK for the visa, or can I come in on a 60 day exemption and get an extension on that? Thanks in advance.

I read on a website that you need a police check from your home country to get a retirement visa. Thats the first time I’ve read that and wanted to check that’s correct? Also wanted to check if anyone who has gone through the process got one before going to Thailand?
