✨ VISA AGENT SCAMMER UPDATE ✨

I wrote a post a few months ago about how I was scammed by a “visa agent” that found me on this group. She took my 11,000 baht and and as soon as I sent the money asked for another 11,000 baht.

At that point I realized it was a scam and asked for the refund. The person kept promising to refund every day, stretching the time.

I finally went to the police and filed a complaint.

Long story short: I got my money back a few days ago.

💸 11,000 baht that the scammer took from me and never returned — now it’s back in my hands thanks to the police.

The scammer got anxious ONLY when she received a summon from the police. Basically if she didn’t show up (or rather the person whose bank account she is using), police would have the right to arrest her/him.

It took almost 2 months, but I didn’t give up. I hope my story inspires you too:

👉 If someone scams you, always go to the police.

👉 Be persistent. Don’t let it slide. BE PERSISTENT AT THE POLICE STATION. At first police didn’t want to help me. I just persisted and persisted. Take Thai/English speaking person with you. Otherwise, at the police suggest that you hire an interpreter (I’ve learned that it’s one of the reasons police didnt want to take my case at first. Worried about them having to hire interpreter by themselves).

👉 Keep the mindset: I will do whatever it takes to make the scammer pay. I took this scammer personally. My heart is singing right now that I won and that she’s the one begging police to unfreeze her account now. I hope her account is unfrozen with the same delay with which she returned my money. 🤣

👉 NEVER give your money over the Internet. Take a picture of person’s ID PERSONALLY before proceeding with any payment.

💭 To those who laughed at me for believing in the police — ha-ha, look at me now. 😁

💭 To those who supported me in the comments and in private messages with kind words and useful information about the scammer — thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are amazing. 💖

💭 And to the scammer (because I know you’re reading this): karma will find you. 😈

⚠️ Some people asked me to disclose her identity. I checked with the police — and the answer is NO, it’s not safe in a PUBLIC SETTING.

But just so you know:

🔹 The scammer was already removed from this group a few months ago.

🔹 She changed her profile name right after I reported her.

🔹 When she texts you, she rushes you to start cooperation with her, sends selfies with her being at the immigration, holding passports etc. Asks you to sends the documents and even reviews them for you. Do not think she’s not a scammer just because she knows a lot about visa process.

🔹 Her bank account was frozen as soon as I filed the complaint, and now the official process is ongoing.

💪 The lesson? Never give up. Justice takes time, but it’s worth fighting for. I could have lost. But I knew I would do ANYTHING I CAN to make the scammer pay.

Had the most smoothest process through Bangkok airport with my DTV last night.

I did my DTAC card online the night before.

I literally just gave her my passport, and she didn't ask for my DTAC or DTV E-Visa or anything else more than my passport.

Doesn't get any easier than that!

Within 3 hours of arriving back at my condo after arriving on my fresh DTV for the first time, I requested a new TM30 from my property manager. I went and provided the passport copies and she only sent my receipt 10 days later with the date 10 days late.

How big of a problem is this? It will be my first ever 90 day report. I'm a bit annoyed since I did things correctly and have a late TM30.

Got my visa approved via Sydney embassy while in Aus (I’m Australia) after being on multiple tourist/education visas over the past few years. I applied for workcation, with a combination of employment in my father’s company and my own business/freelance work. I only transferred the proof of funds money in a couple days before application, but I submitted two letters from my father saying he would sponsor me (1 as my part-time employer and 1 as my father so both grounds were covered based on info I found via searching this group). Just wanted to share this here bc this group helped SO MUCH. Turn around was about 1-2 weeks. 🤯😍🌻🎉 Thank you so much to everyone who supplied info in here, and sending much love to those struggling with their apps (I was SO anxious when/about applying so I really feel for those getting knocked back/feeling understandably confused etc ❤️🙏).

I'm about to apply for a Workcation DTV from the Los Angeles Consulate. I have all of my documents together. My question is should I create one large pdf of all of the documents together to submit everything at once or do I submit each document separately? i.e. passport biodata page, driver's license, employment certification and 6 months of bank statements. Thanks.

I'm applying for a DTV in Canada and the page where you upload your documents won't let me load the pdf I've created for my financials. All the other docs load ok. I've deleted and restarted the application several times, same problem. The file is 950kb, so under the 3mb allowed. Anyone have any suggestions? It's frustrating as i need to get my application in asap. Appreciate it.

Hey everyone, I’m about to rent a condo in Bangkok and wanted to check what’s standard practice here.

The agent told me: • I need to pay first month’s rent + security deposit (2 months) before the landlord will sign the lease. I paid the first month rent online to hold down my apartment • She said the landlord typically only signs once all money is received. • Alternatively, she suggested I could bring cash on move-in day, pay her directly, and then get the signed contract + keys together.

Back in London, I’m used to signing first, then paying, so I just want to make sure this is normal in Bangkok and that I’m not putting myself at risk.

Questions: 1. Is it standard here for the landlord to hold back their signature until the tenant has paid everything? 2. If I pay the agent (not the landlord directly), what’s the safest way to make sure I’m protected — e.g., should I insist on a written receipt right away? 3. On move-in day, should I expect to walk away with both keys and a fully signed lease?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has rented long-term in Bangkok recently. 🙏

It has been made ABSOLUTELY clear to me, by my local Thai embassy (Manila), that for one to apply for a DTV, one is required to show evidence of regular income, over and above the half a million baht in one's bank account.

Obviously, if one has a regular income, one would probably use that fact to apply as a "digital nomad", rather than under the "cultural activity" or "medical" categories, so this visa seems to be a farce!
