I was looking at the soft power DTV application and saw that it is asking for employment details. While I am technically still employed until November, I feel I should say I am unemployed as that is what I'll be once I move to Thailand. Thoughts? My employer wouldn't provide me with a letter saying I'm allowed to work abroad.

Seemed odd to me that they're asking for employment details for the soft power DTV.

I'm planning on leaving Canada and visit family in EU for 2-3 months (I have citizenship there but not residency). After that I'd like to move to Thailand on a DTV.

I think it makes sense for me to apply from Canada before leaving but what's the risk of applying right before going to EU? I don't plan on returning to Canada before going to Thailand and from what I understand I'm supposed to be in the country from which I am applying from?

I need advice on how to explain the following:

1. How to support myself: I will say it’s from my savings with that 500k thb bank statement. Would it be enough to explain myself?

2. My plan after the 5 yr visa: I will use soft power Muay Thai. So what would be an appropriate and successful explanation? If I say I would like to renew the DTV or apply other visa to stay in Thailand, will it give a bad impression?

Appreciate your helpšŸ™Thanks

For anyone thats ever been to chiang mai, you've probably hiked the monks trail to wat palad. This trails been around for over 200 years, from before Rama 1 (its the route he took to get to wat doi suthep before there were roads.

Well from October 1st, you'll need to pay to go for a walk in the forest now. 100 baht for foreigners, 2 for thais.

This in light if continuing news about decline tourist numbers, recessions, and vacant hotels. When there's less people coming let's raise prices and put fees on everything to make up for the loss.

For me, I've lived in chiang mai for the last 4 years. 2 years ago they closed Doi Pui and all the trail systems up there (even the paved roads). Last year they started putting entrance fees on Doi Pui access points. This year they're doing it with Doi Suthep. Many national parks in chiang mai have reservation systems, require permits or guides to access, and are closed over 6 months of the year.

Most people live here for the access to nature, thais and foringers. Restrictive policies and over regulations ruin most places in the west, its sad to see it happening here too.

Please clarify a 30 day extension to a 60 day visa exempt visit to Thailand scenario . If I arrive at BKK on October 1 I will be stamped for 60 days until November 29. If I go to Vietnam during this time, and come bacK to BKK and get a 30 day extension until December 29 , can I simply change flights and depart Thailand and go back to America on December 29 with no issues ? Thanks in advance for your advice..ļæ¼k

Today went to the branch I opened my account which I opened in person I had passport with retirement visa Thai car and motorcycle license plus my sim card verification they said no to me they want a resident certificate as well now this is after I drove from Sarakham to Bangkok. I approached the visa agent I use on occasion to get me a resident certificate they said no can do as it’s only valid for Pattaya I’m honestly confused and at a loss to what to do next to be fair and suggestions welcome Keith

I'm embarrassed and think I messed up. I've been asked for 12 months of statements on my Non-O for retirement the past few extensions at Division One Bangkok. Bangkok Bank takes me 3 or 4 business days to get them. One time 5 days. I opened an account at SCB. I was more concerned about the 800k posting the same day I moved it from BB to SCB. So there were zero days without 800k in an account. I walked cash over from BB to SCB and it posted in an hour the same day. I dropped to 301k at Bangkok Bank and 802k at SCB.

I didn't realize I may need to have 800k in the new account three months prior to my extension in one month. I did this today Sep 2. My visa extension expires Nov 11, 2025. I made an appointment 45 days early on Sep 29, 2025. Even if I wait until say Nov 10, 2025, that will only be in the new account 71 days.

Again, I know I may have really messed up. Is there any chance they will accept the two accounts on Sept 29? The SCB account having the 801k for only 28 days. I planned to get all the appropriate papers from each bank the morning I go in. Or perhaps going say Nov 2, will be 60 days in the new account.

Thanks for any advice
