Hey everyone!

Is anyone in Hanoi at the moment? I’m here solo and would love to meet up for a drink or even a bit of a party this weekend if you’re around!

I just got approved for the workcation!

I applied last Saturday and got the green light today (Friday). The status changed to ‘Pending approval’ on Tuesday, so it all went through pretty quickly.

For the application, I submitted proof of my self-employment from the UK, six months of bank statements and invoices, a letter explaining what I do, why I want to stay in Thailand, and that I won’t be working with any Thai clients. I also included a letter from my main client confirming what I do, that I’ll continue working with him, and that remote work is totally fine.

I had 500k baht in my main account for the past three months, and I also added proof that I’m currently in Vietnam, along with some examples from my work portfolio.

The biggest struggle was making sure all the PDFs were small enough - under 3MB. I actually used ChatGPT to help me sort everything out and even create the PDFs, but I still had to adjust and compress everything properly in Adobe Acrobat. If you're adding screenshots or scans, make sure to keep them as small as possible!

The only thing I was unsure about was the ‘Place of issue’ field — my Polish passport doesn’t have that, just an ‘authority’ field, and it was issued in Jakarta. I just copied exactly what was written there and it worked fine.

Really happy it’s all sorted! Thanks for all your posts here, they were super helpful :)

Can anyone tell me if the Phuket Immigration requires a 6 month or 12 month Bank statement for a Non-O visa extension?

I hope someone can help me here please as I found so many contradicting information. I have a Thai visa (Non-O-A), which I used to first enter Thailand on September 16, 2024. A stamp in my passport granted me a stay until September 14, 2025, in accordance with the validity of my German international health insurance. The visa allows multiple entries. I left the country on February 24, 2025. I will re-enter on September 10, 2025. Can I re-enter with a new international health insurance policy valid for one year from Germany to obtain an additional year of stay, corresponding to the validity of the international health insurance policy, or does the health insurance policy have to be based in Thailand?

Hi, I was wondering what's the cost (roughly) for transfer of company or foreign ownership for a property? Say a condo worth around 2 million. Thanks.

Hello everyone,

If I were working remotely for a German company and using a company laptop without admin rights, the system time on the laptop is set to Thai time and cannot be changed because I don't have administrator rights. I connect to Germany via WireGuard VPN.

Does anyone have experience with this?

How do you deal with the incorrect system time?

Is there a way to change the time zone or system time without administrator rights?

Is this causing problems for you, e.g., with time tracking or logging in?

How do you handle this with your IT department?

Thank you for your advice!

A friend of mine was turned back at BKK. He had gone in and out too many times. He is back in Canada now. Other than going through the Embassy, paying his fees and getting rejected, how can he tell if he would be able to apply for a VISA now?

Was approved in Abuja (Nigeria) as a Cameroonian (African) for workcation 🇳🇬/🇨🇲

PS: I live in Cameroon. However, Cameroon is ruled by the Thai embassy of Abuja, Nigeria.

PS2: I speak French and my documents were in French. I translated all of them with Google translate, add in red "original" on the french ones, merge both and send them as one PDF.

Honestly, the process is very straightforward.

I applied on April, 9th. As intended date of travel, I put June, 26th.

The documents I used:

1) Portfolio: I work online, on platforms and for direct customers.

One platform gave me a certificate of independent activity. For both platforms, I sent screenshots of my profiles and link redirecting to them.

For my direct customers, I send invoices + links to works on which I'm publicly cited.

2) Financial situations: 6-months stamped and signed statements of my bank accounts.

3) The other documents they asked for (photos, bio page of passport, etc.).

A few minutes after submitting my application, I received a request for additional documents:

- Flight itinerary

- Hotel booking for at least one month

- Employment contract: I have a contract with a regular customer. A simple Word document we both signed. I sent it.

Then I waited...

On June, 8th, I received an email stating I have an interview at the Thai embassy on June, 11th.

The D day, I had the interview. Some questions that were asked to me:

- Why do you want to go to Thailand?

- Have you been to other countries? Which ones?

- A lot of questions about the nature of my work. What I do EXACTLY? Where are based my customers? How will I be sure to have regular income?

Honestly, if it's your job and you are (REALLY) making a living off of it, there's nothing complicated.

- How I intend to pay for stuff in Thailand? My answer: credit card.

- Where I will stay? I explain that I booked an hotel and after, I will find a one-year rental contract.

- Asked me to open my bank apps to see the money.

Overall, the interview lasts around 10 minutes.

The next morning, I flew back to Cameroon. And then, I received the email stating I was approved and granted a DTV.

I made my post as detailed as possible as I don't see a lot of feedbacks from Africans. I saw a report of success and maybe 2-3 Africans saying they were approved but not a lot of details.

In a nutshell... The process is the same for all nationalities. There's no "additional scrutiny" nor "additional verifications" as I saw in some comments.

If you meet the criteria, just apply.

In case you have some questions, feel free to ask in comments. I will answer to the best of my ability.
