after obtaining an extension of my marriage visa, can I withdraw the money from the account and then redeposit it 2 or 3 months before the renewal next year?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After obtaining an extension of your marriage visa in Thailand, you can withdraw and later redeposit the required 400,000 THB in your bank account. However, it is advised to maintain the funds in your account during the 30-day consideration period and to ensure the required amount is back in the account at least 2-3 months before your next visa renewal application. Keep in mind that different immigration offices may have varying requirements, so it's essential to check local regulations.
Yes you can, but I would be leaving it in there for the under consideration period as some immigration offices might want to check, after you get the stamp for the next 11 months you are free to use the money. Just remember to put it back 2 months before you apply for the next extension, but check with your local immigration office as some are now requesting 3 months.
I would leave the 400,000 THB in the account during the 4 weeks "under consideration". After you have been issued the 1-year Extension, you are free to use the 400,000 THB for whatever you think is good

Two or three months office dependent, before you submit your extension. You should then keep during the 30 day (or what ever) consideration period before you get the final stamp.

I have made sure I put in more than 40,

I am new to this and only been here 5weeks I got my bank account opened that my wife has an account at but a week after opening it they rang to say new requirements for visa application, freezing. The 400 thousand for 6 months? Not that I was going to touch it but if that's the new protocol just be prepared for next time.If you need the money i am leaving it in, so I will always be the right amount
this is only a Bangkok bank requirement. I think if you hold the funds for 4 months before, that is it, however. If you hold less than 4 months its then held for an additional 4 months. So it could be 4 or 3+4 2+4, and so on. This is not all braches.
There has been a crackdown on opening bank accounts for short-term visitors, and some banks have introduced their own internal policies requiring them to freeze the funds shown on the bank statement issued for immigration purposes. It is important to emphasise that this is solely the banksā own practice. It has nothing to do with the immigration requirements for obtaining or extending permission to stay.
Jan is correct Nothing at all risky about it. Thatās the way it works when youāre on an extension of stay based on marriage versus an extension of state based on retirement nothing at all risky about it.

Are you sure itās not risky?
What if he loses it all ahd doesnāt have any money to replace it?
What if he he gets robbed?
What if the investment turns into a scam and itās all gone?
What if immigration says it needs to be vested 6 months?
Donāt mix up extensions based on marriage and extension based on retirement.

Yes, thereās no seasoning required after the extension is issued. Itās back to 400K baht minimum two months prior to your next application, some immigrations require three months.
