@Ruth ******
I did mine in roughly 4 weeks in Krabi. Certificate of residency is achievable with TM30 only (they were not really interested in rental agreement either). Then I did a 1 day course in local driving school for 4k THB, passed theoretical exam on the same day, then they told me I need to wait 2-3 weeks for appointment at DLt to get my license. That I did, paid another 150 THB or so and got my license.

Keep in mind that you probably can’t get a residency certificate in Krabi/CM for Bangkok rental, so you’d have to get a short term rental in one of the two places for that.

There is no written limit on flying in, but if the immigration officer decides you have a pattern of visa runs (and yes, staying 2 months and leaving for a week for a year can be it), they may either deny you entrance or let you in with a warning. If they deny you you can go to another airport and try again, but the record stays and it’s not that likely you will be let in for some time.

Right now there is definitely some tightening in regards to attempts to stay longterm in Thailand, doing a year on visa runs would be too stresful for me.

METV is a good compromise and you can stretch it almost to 9 months. Education visa should be OK if after it you will take longer break from Thailand and come back after a year or so for tourist stuff. Elite visa may be unnobtainable after it too, but it’s not really clear why and how.

@Tullio ******
as I said, it depends on embassy issuing the visa, it's not clear cut. You got lucky.

@Tullio ******
it fully depends on the immigration officer, there is a small note before applying that you need to prove that you need multi-entry, and saying that the plan is not yet finalized may not cut it with some embassies.

At least they gave him a courtesy of asking for more tickets, rather than just issuing single entry and keeping the change.

sure, write away. RE: Revolut: The QR code system is proprietary to ASEAN countries, western banking system is not compatible with it. It's not a must have in Thailand, but definitely nice to have, you can pay with it even in streetfood stalls.

@Adam *****
i do have Revo (both debit and credit), it's my primary travel card. It still doesn't allow you to pay with QR Codes in Thailand AFAIK, and I hate carrying a pocket full of notes and coins.

I read that since March this year getting one on TR visa is borderline impossible. Tried yesterday at Krungthai and SCB on Ko Lanta, with residency certificate, and got turned down. You recon it's still worth trying in Krabi, or give up until I get a better visa?

@Adam *****
QR code payments is enough of a reason for me, but so far I keep wasting time trying to open one on TR visa 😂
