Todd McGowan I wanted to change from 800,000 to have it based on 65,000 baht income each month as I was aware of many cases involving a certain bank and certain immigration offices and felt I was open to a level of vulnerability. I checked with my local immigration office and they told me the rules. Then when I put in renewal stuff etc they raised several objections. When I answered these they told me they would not process my renewal because I could not prove 800,000 in the bank the PREVIOUS YEAR, and told me I had to leave the country and start again. I am not alone in these matters. Now sorted but a difficult and expensive process. You are probably right Todd, I should have not poked the bear. My bad.

Yurek Hunt correct.

However, my point is individual immigration officials have the authority to interpret and manage applications as they see fit. What works in Kalasin may not work in Chon Buri as an example. It is always best to try to work as politely as possible with your local office and even then it may not have a great outcome. If anybody doubts that, pop over to the Consulate in Laos and see long lines of farangs who have had ostensibly valid renewals rejected and having to start all over again. Been there done that.

I'm not sure about that Justin. I would check with your local immigration office, my comments were about typical bank procedures, immigration rules are different and even vary office to office

Todd Capron great to see experts like yourself that know everything, are fully aware of every case in every office in Thailand. Your experience is just that, your experience. Not being American, I don't know everything and suggest members validate their actions with their local immigration office. What I have experienced is know all Americans telling immigration officers what the rules are in a loud and obnoxious fashion and be told to get the hell out of the office

sure, every agent is the same and every office responds to every agent the same way. There are no personal links between individual agents and individuals in the various migration offices. Sure! In addition, there is no corruption, there is no prostitution in all of Thailand and the Tooth Fairy is real and Texas A&M is revered by the Teasips as the most prestigious university in all of Texas. 555

if anybody thinks they are 100% certain they know how every immigration officer will deal with their case based on their personal experience at another immigration office, they don't know much about thailand.

Clinty Williams ever tried it? I am sure that what happens at one office, not necessarily the same for all offices. When I tried they cancelled my visa.
