no. they didn't. I just filled address of hotel on TM7. better photocopy passport bio page, arrival stamp page with TM6 before hand. Photocopy line at the immigration very very long
It doesn't hurt to send Embassy an email. My Embassy stated on their site that such letter is not issued，and they did reply to my email stating the same. I printed out the email and got my extension.
I guess it depends on the region. We came in on 60day TR visa on Dec 8th， went to Hua Hin office Jan 20th or so， got consideration stamp for 60 day covid extension.
