Most immigration offices will not except the 40,000 baht a month option anymore, best to ask your immigration office which you will be using.

You cannot apply for the DTV inside of Thailand, but you will need to qualify for the visa depending on the reason you are applying for the DTV.

You say partner, but you don’t say that if you are legally married to that person?

@Lloyd *******
yes because people actually lied to the embassy about their income. Then when immigration wanted it confirmed it is too hard and it’s not the embassy’s job. I remember all the lies we told them back in the 80’s they just signed whatever you put in front on them.

@Graeme ******
you are sadly mistaken, the reason why they stopped issuing verification of income statements was that most people were lying about their incomes. Any embassy/ consulate only does the bare minimum to assist when you are in trouble, most people don’t realize that. My sister worked for the department of foreign affairs for many years and was posted to various embassies around the world and the stories she tells are fascinating.

It is 20,000 baht or the equivalent in another currency, so if you are bringing USD cash money it will be fine. You hardly ever get asked, but always good to be prepared just in case.
