TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about switching from a non-O retirement visa with a financial requirement (800,000 THB) to one based on monthly income (65,000 THB) and whether a consulate letter is necessary for proof of income. Comments clarify that the user cannot withdraw the full 800,000 THB yet, as it must be maintained for three months, and note that the Australian embassy no longer issues letters for this purpose.

you are sadly mistaken, the reason why they stopped issuing verification of income statements was that most people were lying about their incomes. Any embassy/ consulate only does the bare minimum to assist when you are in trouble, most people don’t realize that. My sister worked for the department of foreign affairs for many years and was posted to various embassies around the world and the stories she tells are fascinating.

Nope, the reason they stopped issuing letters was because Thai immigration wanted the embassies to verify/confirm the income, which they obviously could not do.

yes because people actually lied to the embassy about their income. Then when immigration wanted it confirmed it is too hard and it’s not the embassy’s job. I remember all the lies we told them back in the 80’s they just signed whatever you put in front on them.

If you got the yearly extension you're on now based on banked money method you can't take out all of the 800K or you void the extension for failing to meet the seasoning requirements

Remember you need to keep the 800K baht in the bank acount for 3 months after your yearly extension is granted and then the balance can't go below 400K until you apply for a new extension the following year.

So until you get a yearly extension via the 65K baht a month monthly income by international transfer method (if that's what you're doing next year) you can't let the balance go below 400K

Just so you're clear, there is no consulate letter the aussie consulate here in thailand stopped issuing stat decs for income from abroad at the end of 2018

you wanna meet the proof of funds by monthly income method you have to transfer in to the country a minimum of 65K baht a month, each month, every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for the next extension
