Is it common to face questioning upon re-entering Thailand?

I did my first border run a few weeks ago to Padang Besar Malaysia, when I tried to come back, I was denied and was told that you have to spend the night in Malaysia now. You can't come right back. Myself and three people from France all had gotten denied and told to come back the next day.

I didn't buy my ticket back to Bangkok until after I got my stamp. I wasted two train tickets yesterday when I got denied. I have never ever been asked for proof of an onward ticket, not when I left my home country or when I got to Thailand for the first time or now for my B.R.

I did my first border run, left Tuesday from Bangkok to Padang Besar Malaysia. I spent the day in Padang and when I tried to reenter they denied me and said I had to spend the night in Malaysia. Thankfully today I got stamped 😁

I just got to Padang Besar Malaysia today, came by sleeper train and was denied reentry. I was told by immigration that I had to spend the night in Malaysia. There were also four people ahead of me from France and they were all denied as well. Now we are all stuck in Malaysia 😭😭😭😭
