TLDR : Answer Summary
This post explores whether stock traders and investors can apply for the new Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand. Users shared their experiences and concerns regarding qualifying for the visa based on their trading activities and business structures. Key points include the need for proof of remote work, bank statements, and business documents for applicants, as well as the importance of demonstrating a legitimate income source.
I haven't applied yet, but seen a post yesterday from a lady who got hers. She applied right through the site, all your business documents have to be in order , bank information, drivers license, address in your home country. Just get on the website and follow the instructions. Also tells you everything you will need to submit.
You need a letter from your employer, stating that your work is remote. I am not sure how this would work if you are self-employed And able to work remotely
yeah not very specific .. I emailed my embassy but I got no answer yet
Nicolas *************
So they replied to me via FB messages. Short answer and not very specific:
"For digital nomad, you just have to show us what you do."
I also asked how long we have to show the 500k THB has been in an account, and they answered "3-6 months bank statement". Which is also not very specific...
Same here, I emailed and also FB messaged the Vientiane Embassy about this (and other questions). Not sure if I'll get any answer in a timely manner, but will update here if I do.
If you are just a retail platform trader I doubt it..a professional trader with a proven record working at some of the main trading banks or investment companies yes that would work..but knowing Thailand anythings possible..
I have an online pocket knife retail/drop shipping business that hasn’t made a tax return yet. It also doesn’t make any money but looks legitimate and has YouTube channel as well does this qualify as remote work?
I have no idea man .. technically they don’t ask you a proof of how much you’re making so ..

You should try to send what you think is the most relevant and then if they need they will ask you for more papers I think. Just don’t send them links to your website. They will not accept it, only pdf or documents
I don't know what they want exactly, I'm an entrepreneur, I have shops etc but I'm afraid they won't understand, I also do freelance work as a dev but what do they mean by portfolio? A screenshot of a Fiverr / Upwork profile? Anyway, if you have a lead, I'm interested :)
I’m stuck at the payment process lol I’m scared to pay and get declined actually. Because they don’t really say if trader are remote workers for them and how to prove it because it’s not really clear
the same here, especially since the Paris embassy is not cool.. Two years ago they refused me a tourist visa because the expiration date was hard to see on the passport scan, I didn't even have the option to upload another one and I lost 40 euros, I don't want to lose 350 this time. Also the one in Paris announces 1 month of processing while the others take a week and the others also answer emails in less than 48 hours. In short, it's annoying.
yes but I’m not sure this is a requirement or if they really consider this, if you make 20k or 200k annually you still have a business and have 500k Thai baths that’s all they ask.
