From a legal perspective once the corner of your old passport has been cut, it then is no longer a legal travel document, but you can get your visa transferred to your new passport. Regarding if you mean turning up at immigration to exit the country, they'll want to see your previous entry stamp in your new passport. Now whether a border IO., can or will transfer your visa from old to new is open to speculation. To be safe I'd go to an immigration office and get the visa transferred before trying to leave incase if they let you leave, without transferring it, you may not be able to return on the same visa. It's a good question which I'm sure one of the expat visa posters should be able to clarify.

I bought one 22 years ago, a short sleeved and leg version. If my memory serves me right it cost me about 2,750 baht. Only needed it for a job I was going on, but I imagine even a full length one, depending on mm thickness, will not be expensive. Just looked on Lazada Thai website, Crikey you can get them for less than 2,000 baht. So even if you buy direct from a dive shop, can't see it costing more than 3,000 baht. That's about £70.

Also you quote USD., well there's more currencies in the world than USD. Also, I and I presume others know how to do basic currency conversions and as I said 400,000 + 400,000 I only used that as an example. Only fools would tread a fine line on exchange rates. Also, hypothetically if someone did manage to get a visa extension based on them having 400k in their Thai account and proof of 400k per annum income, in their first year extension, depending on their lifestyle, they could build up a buffer to compensate for exchange rate fluctuations.

By the way it isn't a DVT Visa, its a DTV, Destination Thailand Visa. Just thought I'd correct you 😂😂😂

Bit stupid embassies putting out that you can get the visa extension with the combination, then immigration saying whether they'll accept it or not. Makes you wonder whose in charge of the immigration legislation. 🤔

I presume you've tried this method, or do you know which immigration accepts this.? Thanks

This combination has always been an alternative. As long as the combination of monthly transfers into a Thai bank account in your name, plus a sum of money in that bank account accrue to 800,000 a year, then it is acceptable. Example 400,000 in the bank account and monthly transfer that amount to 400,000 baht over twelve months.

It wouldn't affect me voting for a party that brought in reciprocal visas for Thai citizens.

In the good old days, I used to enter back2back on visa exempts both at land borders and by air. Did it for years, until an IO., got peed off looking through my passport to check the previous visa and stamped me in with a Red warning. After that I got an 'O' non-immigrant one year multiple entry. No problem once I had that visa, which has now been discontinued unfortunately.
