The US embassy doesn't exist anymore and even before when it did, tourist visas were backlogged for 3 years due to covid or some garbage excuse. You would have an easier time getting a visa to Turkmenistan than the US right now. Also the US went from being the worst country in the world, to the most expensive worst country in the world.

It's going to be very hard because he will have to get a local job and live on a thai income since he is deported from the US. He knows no Thai language and has no family here, things will be terrible

Ah well. Good thing South East Asia is a region, not a country. Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia are all on offer. Thailand was always the gem, the step ahead but times change and nothing lasts forever. Let's see how it pans out but I wont live in hope forever. Life's short.
