TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a visa extension in Thailand, it is generally required to have a departure flight for visa exempt entries or tourist visas. It is advised to book a flight that can be changed without fees, as these are easier to manage. However, some users noted that a return flight might not be necessary when filling out certain forms, indicating that requirements may vary depending on the application method.

Why are you filling out a paper form? I dont think you need one for Thailand Pass online application.

@Robert ******
he's applying for a visa not a thailand pass.. two completely separate things and applies for separately.

Take a flight that you can change without extra fee

18th time this week, if you're entering on a visa exempt entry or tourist visa you need a return ticket.

I have a 60 TR and booked my onward a 1 way ticket for 89 days after my arrival to Kuala Lumpur for $70, which I should be able to cancel when I arrive

Thanks Garrett and considering my outlined circumstances (long stay) what would be the most economical way to navigate that hurdle? Thankyou

Google "onward flight ticket" and you can rent a fully valid plane ticket to pretty much anywhere for exactly this type of situation. Costs about $10

depends on the one you purchase. But do you think immigration has access to the airline's databases? They just want to see that you have it

@Pe***
Book a refundable ticket

Back to my home country or anywhere?

@Pe***
Anywhere, you need a ticket leaving Thailand within the period of time you'd be permitted entry to. If you're entering on a 30 day visa exemtion, you need a ticket leaving THailand before that 30 days would expire.

Book a refundable ticket, cancel it once you enter Thailand. Immigration doesn't care, normally it's the airline that will refuse you boarding.

You should be able to put the hotel you are staying in if you dont know anyone in Thailand or have any affiliations

Have to be a return ticket? What about an onward ticket? Should be also okay, no?
